Half Assed Movie Review | Straight Outta Compton

I literally just got home about 25 minutes ago. I almost never watch movies and I don’t plan to make this a regular thing, so this isn’t really a full movie review. I just wanted to give my thoughts on the shit… It was fuckin’ great. I definitely had some problems with the movie, but I really enjoyed it. I never ever watch movies, so this is probably my favorite movie now. Seriously, there’s a fuck load of movies that I haven’t seen. I don’t plan on seeing any other movies anytime soon either. This shit was fuckin’ great tho. The acting was all pretty good… Remember this is coming from an extreme movie amateur. Just keep that in mind as you read this… I thought the casting was great. All of the actors did a great ass job and they looked the part too. The only guy who didn’t really look right was Snoop Dogg. He kinda just looked like a darkskinned YG with less tattoos. He sounded just like him when he started speakin’ tho. Eazy-E looked perfect especially when he put his sunglasses on. Ice Cube’s son obviously did a great ass job too. They also did a great fucking job of making Suge Knight look like a fucking lunatic. It is so fucking hot right now. I’m sitting on the toilet, but nothing’s comin’ out. I dropped a pebble, but that’s about it. Okay, I’m in my room now. What was I talking about? Oh yeah. They did a great job of making Suge Knight look fucking insane. He didn’t look exactly like him, but it was good enough. I liked it. When he first showed up on the screen I busted out laughin’. I was like “Aaahhh shit.” It was also really awesome to see the Pac cameo. That was dope af. When Hail Mary came on I was like “…Damn.” This most likely won’t happen for anyone else that sees the movie (it would be weird if it did tbh), but when Dre was listening to the old soul records in his bedroom my Dad started singin’ along with it and it was annoying as fuck. It was fucking embarrassing. He wasn’t the only one doing it which makes it even worse. That was horrible. What else… Well, it really was a great movie. It’s just… I don’t know. Something about the portrayal of Eazy-E just didn’t seem right. They kinda made him look like a bitch. The intro with Eazy-E was gangsta as fuck, but after Cube & Dre left they made him seem like a loser who had no talent. I wasn’t alive during that time, so maybe he WAS a loser with no talent, but I find that very hard to believe. Weren’t the Bone Thugs goin’ crazy at that time? They made Eazy-E look like a father whose wife and kids left him. I don’t know how I felt about that. I also kinda wish they included DJ Yella & MC Ren in the story a little more. I know they’re not as popular as the others, but it was just kinda irritating. It was cool to see Dre & Yella back when they was the World Class Wreckin’ Cru too. I also wish that they didn’t make Dr. Dre seem like this amazing hero who could do no wrong. They didn’t even make him look that gangsta. I think he punched like 2 guys in the whole movie and that’s it. They also didn’t really address the misogyny either. It was in there a little bit, but they didn’t really make it seem like a bad thing. They coulda gone into how Dre assaulted women and all that shit. Dre probably didn’t wanna let that into the movie tho. I understand. I guess. They also didn’t even talk about the beef between Dre & Eazy-E at all either. Not at all. Not one mention of it. Dre dissed the fuck outta Eazy-E in the first few tracks of the Chronic, so I don’t know how they thought people would just forget about that shit… I thought they coulda talked a little more about The D.O.C. too. After the first 20 minutes he just disappears completely. I know they couldn’t really do much because of the accident, but still. Speaking of the accident, I don’t think they really did that scene well. Dre was in the hospital and he was like “…Shit.” Then it’s like The D.O.C. never even existed. They completely forget about him after that. I think that’s pretty much all I have to say to be honest. Other than the problems I mentioned, I thought it was great. I don’t know if should give this a score… I don’t want y’all to think that movie reviews are gonna be a common thing around here… Lemme see what it got on Rotten Tomatoes… What the fuck? 90% damn. I think I’d probably give this an 84 or something like that. I guess. It was a really great movie tho. I’d definitely recommend this shit even if you don’t like Hip Hop that much. Maybe. I’ll probably only review another movie if it’s another Hip Hop biopic. I’ve heard rumours of a sequel focusing on Snoop Dogg & Tupac. That would be fucking great. I’d also love a Wu-Tang biopic. That would be fucking great. I wonder if I should watch that Biggie biopic… Nah… I got too much shit to listen to… I fuck with this movie tho. This movie is dope.

Verdict:

Uuuuuuuuuuhhh… I guess 84%.

HOTTTTT
