This album was released on July 17th in 2007. As y’all can tell from my other Tech N9ne reviews, I’m startin’ to get really tired of this guy. I still think he’s a very talented MC, but goddamn. He has so much wack music. I mean, he has a lot of dope music, but still. This is thankfully one of his shortest albums tho. It’s still long as shit by normal standards, but for a Tech N9ne album this is pretty short. This was the first album in his “Collabos” series. It’s also his SIXTH album. That’s right. I’m pretty close to being done with this marathon thankfully. It’s been going on since May 16th last year, so I’m pretty anxious to finally get this shit over with. I have zero expectations. Hopefully it’ll be as good as the first disc of Killer, and nothing like the second disc.
Track 1: Kansas City Shuffle (Intro) [Prod. Robert Rebeck]
HAHAHA. What the fuck was that? This skit is stupid as fuck. Was that really necessary? It’s just these two guys on a road trip who are lost I guess, and they find themselves in Kansas City. They spot some badass chick on the side of the road, and they’re like “damn.” So they tell the girl that they’ll give her a ride to her place, and she’s like “cool.” She gets in the car, and they start driving. Then they start askin’ her about the city, and she mentions the “Kansas City Shuffle.” They’re like “what the fuck is that?” and she says, “You know, THE KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE,” then she pulls out a gun and blasts them the fuck away. Hahaha. That’s probably not exactly how it happened, but that’s what it sounded like to me. I only listened to the shit once, and I don’t feel like replayin’ it. So yeah. That’s what this skit was. It was pretty dumb. It’s just a skit tho. I spent way too much time on this track…
Track 2: Midwest Choppers Feat. D-Loc, Dalima & Krizz Kaliko (Prod. Seven)
Okay, I’ve been looking forward to this song for obvious reasons. It’s the original “chopper” song. Midwest Choppers 2 was great, so this should be dope too. I already know the beat since I heard it on one of the cyphers from Strangeulation II. Okay, it’s starting now. Tech’s on the first verse. This beat would be really generic if it weren’t for that underlying bass. The bass really adds a lot to the production. The hook is dope. It thankfully doesn’t ruin the song like most Tech N9ne hooks do. The first verse was just a quick warmup. Tech’s really goin’ in now. He killed it. “Gotta give it up / I’m a veteran like Edison / I’ma light ’em up, and get in your head again / I’m better than ever / Never let up featherin’ / Death it be fetishin’ / Sever it, hit the mic, and then we pedalin’ medicine.” This is great. D-Loc’s goin’ in now. He’s apparently a member of the Kottonmouth Kings. He sounds a lot better over regular Hip Hop beats. I can’t stand Nu Metal tho… His verse was actually dope af. Oh shit, he was on Worldwide Choppers. Huh. Well, his verse must not have been as memorable on that track. I’m sure it wasn’t bad, but there were a lot of MCs on that song, so he must’ve just gotten overshadowed by people like Twista & Busta Rhymes. Dalima’s goin’ in now. He killed it. Krizz’s verse was dope af too. They all killed it. In terms of flow, they were all pretty much on par with each other. Actually, D-Loc might’ve had the best flow on here if I’m being completely honest… It sounds like Krizz tried to mimic the flow from this song when he recorded his verse for the aforementioned cypher. It’s still really dope tho. They all killed this shit. This is dope af. 5/5
Track 3: Misery Feat. The Journalist & Yukmouth (Prod. Seven)
What the fuck? THE JOURNALIST? Are you fuckin’ serious right now? HAHAHA. That’s even worse than The Therapist. Jesus Christ. A lot of the people Tech works with have terrible Rap names. I still haven’t forgotten about The Popper. HAHAHAHA. Goddamn. I always thought Yukmouth was a cool name. I don’t know why. I’m not really familiar with Luniz aside from I Got 5 On It, so I don’t really know Yukmouth that well. Alright, it’s starting now. This beat is dope. I know I’m only two tracks in, but so far the production has sounded a lot more mainstream than anything I’m used to hearing Tech rhyme over. That’s not necessarily a bad thing tho. They aren’t bad beats. They just sound a lot more accessible than the shit he usually rhymes over. Tech begins the first verse with a relatively reserved flow, but he keeps things interesting by stressing alliteration with the letter M. The way he emphasizes his words makes everything sound really aggressive. The first verse was very good aside from the F bomb. When I say “F bomb,” it should be obvious that I’m not talkin’ about “fuck” since I say that all the time. I mean the OTHER F word. The hook is very simplistic. That’s a good thing for Tech tho. His hooks are usually disastrous whenever he tries to get too creative. The Journalist’s verse actually wasn’t bad. It was cool. It wasn’t super impressive by any means, but it was sufficient. Yuk’s verse was dope. Nothing about this song is super impressive to me, but at the same time nothing about it is really bad. It’s a good song. I fuck with this. 4/5
Track 4: That Box Feat. Greed, Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Skatterman & Snug Brim (Prod. David Sanders II)
“I want all the ass shakers to feel this shit.” Hahaha. I don’t know why, but I really wish he didn’t say that shit… This song has more of that mainstream sounding production. Tech’s rappin’ about sex again… I’m definitely not feelin’ this lyrically. The beat’s kinda cool tho, and I like Tech’s delivery. Oh God… “I’m tryna get in between that box.” Really? That “box?” I can’t take this shit seriously, man. It never sounds right when someone refers to a vagina as a “box.” This hook is wack. Krizz Kaliko’s goin’ in now. “Can I just get a taste of it? / It makes me crazy / Craving it all in my face, and I make sure I put my name in it.” I’m so uncomfortable right now. Every fucking time. This happens EVERY fucking time. Why does Tech do this on every fucking album? Shit like this makes it really hard for me to call myself a Tech N9ne fan. Krizz’s flow was dope, but other than that I’m not feelin’ his verse. Why the fuck is this song so long? Were all of these features really necessary? I just want this song to be over. I wasn’t feelin’ Kutt’s verse. Or Skatterman’s verse. Or Snug Brim’s verse. You know, I might’ve gone easy on this track if it wasn’t so fucking long. It’s almost 6 minutes, which really isn’t that long, but this song in particular only needed to be 2 minutes long. This song really didn’t need to exist in the first place. I’m not feelin’ this shit. This is wack af. 1/5
Track 5: Gangsta Shap Feat. Krizz Kaliko & Kutt Calhoun (Prod. David Sanders II)
This beat is cool. Krizz Kaliko’s on the first verse. Nah. It wasn’t terrible I guess… It was just really corny to me. I really like the direction in which the production goes when the hook starts. It sounds really dark. The hook itself isn’t anything special. It gets the job done. Krizz Kaliko doesn’t really do Gangsta Rap that well to me. He just doesn’t come off as that type of person. Kutt Calhoun on the other hand had a great verse. Tech’s verse was really do- …Wait a minute… The gangsta shap is… a dance? So this is a corny dance track? And they tried to make it gangsta? Is the Gangsta Shap a thing that people actually do or is that a dance that Tech made up? Fuck. That is SOOOO fucking corny. Jesus Christ. I was actually enjoying this until I realized what it was about. So this whole time they were talking about dancing? Are you fuckin’ shitting me? I couldn’t even tell that they were talking about a dance until Tech came in… Wow. That completely ruined this shit for me. This is a dope track sonically, but lyrically… It’s just so lame. Tech’s flow on the last verse was awesome, but I just can’t do this one. It’s way too corny for me. Gangsta Shap? Really? You thought that was cool, Tech? Nah. This shit is wack. 2/5
Track 6: Sex Out South Feat. Krizz Kaliko & Kutt Calhoun (Prod. David Sanders II)
No… NO… I kinda hate Tech N9ne for making so many shitty sex songs. I mean, I love some of his music, but Goddamn. Enough is enough. He’s been making the same gross sex song for over 10 albums. I’m just gonna try to get through this as quickly as I can. I’m sure everything that I’ve said about his other sex songs applies to this one too. It’s hard to come up with interesting new ways to criticize Tech’s music since he’s been following the same formula for over 15 years. Alright, it’s starting now. Oh God… No… NOO… FUCK. Are you fucking shitting me right now, Tech? Why am I listening to you fuck some chick at the beginning of this song? Jesus fucking Christ. Tech makes sex seem like the most disgusting, unpleasant activity anyone could ever take part in. This hook is fucking awful. Kutt’s verse was terrible. “Rita & Alice / White & Phillipino / One on my dick, and one tossin’ my salad.” Wait… “Tossin’ my salad?” Please tell me that doesn’t mean what I think it means… Is Kutt Calhoun really braggin’ about gettin’ his ass ate? Oh my fucking God. This is so fucking bad. Honestly, if I didn’t hear shit like this from Tech N9ne all the time I would be laughing my ass off. I’m just mad right now tho. I’m so tired of having to listen to musical porn. The gross kinda porn tho. This is the aural equivalent of bestiality. Does that even make sense? Whatever, I’m not taking it back. This song is fucking horrible. Tech is an amazing rapper, but he makes some of the worst music I have ever heard. This is fucking ridiculous. What the fuck is this shit? Nah. This is fucking dogshit. I’m not even gonna talk about Tech & Krizz’s verse. All you need to know is that they’re fucking terrible. Just like this song. 0/5
Track 7: Get Ya Head Right Feat. Money Hungry & Snug Brim (Prod. Seven)
I’m assuming this song is about sex too since it has “head” in the title… Oh my fucking God… Not again… ARE YOU FUCKIN’ SHITTIN’ ME, TECH? AGAIN? He put the fucking sex sounds at the beginning of this song too. I don’t believe this shit. This is even worse than before tho. You’re not listening to Tech actually having sex this time. You’re listening to Tech getting his dick sucked. I don’t believe this shit. FUCK. FUUUCK. Tech, WHY? God damnit. Oh my fuck… This hook is horrible. Who is this chick singing? Is that who Money Hungry is? Nah, that’s probably just an uncredited feature. No. I don’t wanna do this anymore. I can’t take this fuckin’ flute in the beat seriously. I wasn’t feelin’ any of the verses. I’m not talking about this shit anymore. It’s wack af. 1/5
Track 8: Fan Or Foe Feat. Krizz Kaliko & T-Nutty (Prod. Seven)
I swear to God if I hear somebody gettin’ jacked off at the beginning of this track I might actually kill myself. Okay, thank God. This sounds like it’s gonna be some gangsta shit. No more sex songs. There better not be anymore shit like that on this album. Tech’s rappin’ about how he’s paranoid that some of his fans might be tryin’ to rob his bitch ass. The first verse was dope af. The hook is underwhelming. It gets the job done tho. T-Nutty’s verse was alright I guess. His flow was kinda off. It sounded like he had trouble catchin’ up to the beat. It almost sounded like he was tryin’ to rap fast just like Tech, but you can tell that he’s not really used to doin’ that. It wasn’t terrible, but I definitely could’ve done without it. This hook kinda sucks. Krizz Kaliko’s verse was alright. This isn’t that bad of a song, but I really don’t see myself coming back to this. After Tech finished his verse I just lost all interest in this song. I remember when I first started this marathon, and I was like “Krizz Kaliko should rap more.” I think I said something like that. I think I said he was a great rapper, but a terrible singer. Well… He’s not a great rapper. I don’t know what I was thinking. He’s an average rapper. He can be REALLY fuckin’ corny tho. He really just seems like a watered down version of Tech N9ne. Every time he raps I just wish Tech had another verse instead. There are exceptions tho. I really liked his verse on Dysfunctional, even tho I was getting some racist/self-hating vibes from it… I’m just really not a fan of him. His verse here wasn’t super wack or anything. It just didn’t really add anything to the song. This shit is average at best for me. 3/5
Track 9: Girl Crazy (Crazy Love) [Prod. David Sanders II]
Oh no… OH MY GOD. Krizz Kaliko is singing on this song, and it’s fucking horrendous. Good fucking lord. This hook is horrible. This song is about Tech’s infidelity. I’m not interested. This hook is so bad. The first verse did nothing for me. What the fuck was Krizz Kaliko thinking when he sang this shit? This hook is unbelievably terrible. I’m done talkin’ about this shit. It’s not a good song. It’s just not. Sure, Tech did a decent enough job talking about his infidelity, but it’s not exactly the most interesting topic in the first place. And the fucking hook was a disaster. The beat was so uninteresting that I didn’t even think to mention it. It did absolutely nothing for me. I’m not feelin’ this track. This is wack to me. 2/5
Track 10: 2 Piece Feat. Big Scoob, Joe Vertigo & Krizz Kaliko (Prod. Seven)
Wow. I misread the features. At first I thought it said “Big Pooh & Joe Scudda” instead of “Big Scoob & Joe Vertigo.” Whatever. It doesn’t matter. It’s starting now. What the hell? I’m not feelin’ that fake ass West Indian accent that Krizz Kaliko threw on for the hook. I’m not feelin’ this beat either. It’s not terrible, but it’s really underwhelming. Scoob’s verse was alright. I was actually kinda enjoying it until he talked about how “That pussy poppin’ and clappin’.” Joe Vertigo’s verse was cool. He had a really aggressive delivery. It kinda reminded me of Big Pun a little. Just a little tho. This hook is wack. This is just a really boring song. I don’t think it’s terrible. I just wouldn’t ever listen to it again. 3/5
Track 11: Big Scoob Feat. Big Scoob (Prod. Seven)
This beat is actually pretty dope. It sounds like it has some Dr. Dre influence. Big Scoob’s on the first verse. It was dope. This is gangsta as hell. The hook is really hard to take seriously. Mostly because Krizz Kaliko is singing “Scoobie-Doobie-Doobie-Doo” in the background. It doesn’t ruin the track tho. Tech’s verse was dope. Scoob’s on the last verse. This is really a Big Scoob song featuring Tech N9ne. It’s dope tho. I fuck with this. 4/5
Track 12: Yeah Ya Can Feat. Shadow & Krizz Kaliko (Prod. Seven)
What the motherfuck? WHAT the fuck is this singing on the intro? Jesus Christ, Krizz. STOP. SINGING. God. DAMNIT. This hook is awful too. Fuck. Krizz Kaliko is to singing as Swizz Beatz is to rapping. This beat is wack. This is ANOTHER song in which Tech is talkin’ about sex. This is so bad. The first verse was wack. What the fuck are these sound effects that Shadow is making in the background of his verse? WHY? Why does Tech have to make music like this? This beat is so bad. This hook is wack af too. I can’t do this one. This shit is wack af. 1/5
Track 13: I Can Feel It Feat. Agginy & The Philsta (Prod. David Sanders II)
This beat’s alright. I really don’t like electric guitars, so I’m not really feelin’ it. It’s not terrible tho. The Philsta—another terrible Rap name by the way—is on the first verse. It’s actually pretty dope. He has a really aggressive delivery. He’s rapping about his chick who cheated on him, and he actually sounds really fuckin’ mad. It reminds me of Eminem. The Philsta’s verse was great. This hook from Krizz Kaliko is fucking awful tho. It’s really annoying how he’s never listed as a feature when he’s only on the hook. Agginy’s verse was alright. That last line she had about the umbrella was unforgivably corny tho. Tech’s verse was cool. I can’t fuck with this song tho. The beat wasn’t very good, and the hook was terrible. The only thing that really stands out for a good reason is the first verse from The Philsta. I’m not feelin’ this shit. 2/5
Track 14: Karma (Skit)
This was a weird ass skit. It’s just Tech kidnapping some chick. I guess shit like this should be expected on a Tech N9ne album.
Track 15: You Don’t Want It Feat. Krizz Kaliko, Mr. Reece & Prozak (Prod. Robert Rebeck)
I don’t think I’m gonna like this shit. Tech always tries super hard to be dark and it always just ends up being really corny. Prozak is even worse with that shit than Tech tho. Okay it’s starting now. Huh. That intro was terrible, but the first verse was pretty dope. This is just more gangsta shit. I fuck with the first verse, and the hook from Krizz Kaliko actually isn’t that bad. Mr. Reece’s verse was dope too. I wasn’t really feelin’ Prozak’s verse tho. It was corny. I kinda fuck with this. This is definitely one of the better songs on the album. Ehhh… Fuck it. This is just alright to me. Nothing about this song is good enough for me to want to keep it. Maybe if that Prozak verse wasn’t there I’d like this more, but as it is this track is just average for me. 3/5
Track 16: Message To The Black Man (Prod. David Sanders II)
This hook is pretty terrible. Tech is trying to sing, and it sounds really bad. This song is about how Tech doesn’t fit in with black people, and how the majority of his fans are white. This hook is so bad. I can already tell that I don’t fuck with this song because there’s nothing that could make up for that hook. The first verse wasn’t bad. It wasn’t really interesting enough for me to want to come back to this tho. The beat is alright. None of the verses were bad. They didn’t really stand out that much tho. This isn’t that good of a song, but I don’t think it’s bad. It’s just not doin’ anything for me. This is alright. I guess. I should probably call it wack for that hook, but I’ll go easy on him. 3/5
Track 17: The P.A.S.E.O. (The Poem Aaron Saw Extra Ordinary) [Prod. David Sanders II]
Okay, finally the last song. Nah. The singing on this intro is awful. I’m not feelin’ this hook at all. Tech was singing and it sounded really bad. I can tell Krizz Kaliko was helping with some background vocals too. That certainly didn’t help… This beat is actually kinda cool. It would’ve been way better without the electric guitar tho. I fuck with the main loop, but other than that everything about this beat is underwhelming. I’m just not feelin’ this song. Do I really have to explain why? The hook is terrible and corny, and the verses just aren’t that good. There. Goddamn. I’m so tired of listening to Tech N9ne… 3/5
Final Thoughts:
…What the fuck was that? This album… It’s bad. It’s really bad. I still enjoy a lot of Tech N9ne’s music, so I know it’s not just because I’m tired of listening to Tech N9ne. This is actually a bad album. The production was underwhelming for the most part, and Tech just wasn’t rapping that well. I mean, he WAS, but he wasn’t saying nothing. I’m over his quick flow. It’s getting old to me. His lyrics just aren’t that entertaining. That would’ve been bad enough, but the hooks on this album are just brutal. There are only a handful of songs on this album that I like. The only albums from Tech N9ne that I think are worse than this are The Gates Mixed Plate & Strangeulation 2. I guess the second half of Killer was worse than this too. This shit is wack to me.
