This EP was released on January 27th this year. The only 2 Chainz project I’ve ever reviewed was T.R.U. Jack City. I didn’t really like that project that much, but there were some gems on there. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of 2 Chainz, but he does have some music that I enjoy. I remember he was huge in 2012, but the hype surrounding him has been steadily depleting ever since he dropped the sequel to Based On A T.R.U. Story. Don’t get me wrong; he’s still a huge artist. He’s just not really on everyone’s radar like he was a few years ago. He dropped a joint album with Lil Wayne called ColleGrove earlier this year—I’m not reviewing it until I do the Lil Wayne Marathon—and I haven’t seen anyone talking about it. I have a friend who listens to terrible music from people like 2 Chainz all the time. One time he got mad at me for saying that Kendrick Lamar is miles ahead of Lil Wayne. Even HE told me that ColleGrove was trash. I think people are just really getting tired of 2 Chainz. He’s been doing the same thing for years. It’s getting old. I’m not expecting this EP to be good, but maybe there’ll be at least one dope track. His next album is called Before Chainz. I’m not sure if that’s gonna come out this year; maybe this EP will serve as a preview of what he’s got in store.
Track 1: Felt Like Cappin’ (Prod. FKi)
Oh no… Nah. I’m not feelin’ this hook. This beat is actually kinda dope. The primary loop is pretty basic, but the vibrant bass really helps it stand out. I’m not really feelin’ this verse. It was kinda entertaining, but it’s not something I’d wanna listen to more than once. I really don’t like this hook. It’s not terrible, but it just kinda rubs me the wrong way. It just ended. This is a very short track. There’s only one verse. I don’t think this is that bad, but I don’t really like it personally. It’s just not that good. It’s decent tho. Well, it’s decent for 2 Chainz. It’s alright. 3/5
Track 2: MF’N Right (Prod. Mike WiLL Made It & Zaytoven)
This beat is alright I guess. There’s a remix of this song with Wayne on ColleGrove. This song is even less entertaining to me than the title track tho. He said on the intro that he was gonna freestyle to this beat. It definitely sounds like it was off the top. The first verse was wack. The hook is very underwhelming. This is such a boring song. Even 2 Chainz sounds bored. I’m not feelin’ this one. This is wack to me. 2/5
Track 3: Back On The Bullshyt Feat. Lil Wayne (Prod. Cardo)
Oh shit… I guess I might actually be reviewing that ColleGrove album soon. I just looked it up; apparently it’s technically just a 2 Chainz album with a bunch of features from Wayne. It started out as a joint album, but I guess there were issues with the record labels, so only 2 Chainz was credited. I honestly don’t really WANT to review it, but I probably will before the end of the year. I don’t know for sure tho. Anyway, this song is fuckin’ terrible. I’m not feelin’ the lackluster beat from Cardo. I’m not feelin’ 2 Chainz’s lazy flow. I’m not feelin’ his dumb ass lyrics. I’m not feelin’ the boring hook. I’m not feelin’ the autotune on Wayne’s verse. I will say this tho; Wayne’s verse was much better than I expected it to be. His flow was much more substantial than that of 2 Chainz. I don’t like this song tho. I was being somewhat hyperbolic when I said it was “fuckin’ terrible,” but it’s definitely below average. This shit is wack to me. 2/5
Track 4: Not Invited (Prod. TM88)
This beat is actually REALLY dope. This is way better than any of the production that was on that TGOD Mafia album. Wow. I actually think I might end up liking this song. I like 2 Chainz’s more aggressive flow on this first verse. Usually with 2 Chainz’s music it feels like the verses are just a waste of time, and I find myself waiting for the hook to come back on. This song is pretty much the opposite of that. The hook feels more like a short break between each verse than the main event. The verses weren’t that good lyrically, but he actually had energy. It was kinda entertaining. This is definitely the best song on the project so far, but I still don’t think it’s amazing. I enjoyed it personally, but I’m not super impressed. I wasn’t expecting to actually like anything on this project tho, so this track was a pleasant surprise. I fuck with this song. This is actually dope to me. I gotta be honest tho; there’s no way I’d like this if it weren’t for the beat from TM88. He did most of the work here. I still fuck with the song tho. 4/5
Track 5: Mindin’ My Business (Prod. 8×8, D.O. Speaks & Street Symphony)
What the hell? This beat is actually pretty good. It’s really dark & kind of experimental. 2 Chainz is the last person I’d expect to spit over something like this. This beat is dope af. The first verse from 2 Chainz was pretty goddamn terrible. “They say ‘catch up,‘ but I must start.” That might actually be one of the worst lines I’ve heard all year. That might even be worse than “I’m a prodigy in these Prada jeans.” Hahaha. I still laugh every time I hear that line. Hmmm… I actually might’ve been trippin’ when I said this beat was dope af… Once the percussion comes in it sounds really disjointed. I’m not feelin’ it. This hook is wack. Wow. This is really bad. I thought I was gonna like this when it first started, but it’s just not good at all. It sounds like 2 Chainz is having a hard time flowing over this beat. Nah. This shit is wack. It was cool that he tried something different. It just didn’t come out very well. It was a lot more interesting than a lot of the other shit on this tape, but it’s just not good. It’s bad. I can’t fuck with this song. This shit is wack. 2/5
Track 6: This Me, Fuck It (Prod. Timbaland)
This song apparently first appeared on Timbaland’s King Stays King mixtape, which came out last year. I’m not really feelin’ this beat. 2 Chainz’s flow is basic as fuck on this first verse. The hook is incredibly underwhelming. This might actually be the worst song on the whole EP. There’s not a single thing about this song that I like. The production, flow, bars, hook… It all just sounds really cheap. I really don’t like this one. This is wack af to me. 1/5
Final Thoughts:
This EP is wack, but it’s really not as bad as I thought it would be. I wasn’t expecting to like a single track on this project, but I surprisingly did. What is there to say? The only interesting thing about this EP is the production. Obviously if you typically like basic ass, generic Trap music, you’ll probably fuck with this. It’s not that much worse than the average 2 Chainz song. Personally, I don’t really feel like I wasted my time since it’s only 6 tracks long and I actually enjoyed one of them. I’d say this project is worth skimming, unless you’ve never liked a 2 Chainz song ever. Just keep your expectations low. It’s not really something you have to pay a lot of attention to. You can pretty much tell if you’re gonna like any of the songs based on the first 30 seconds of each track. I wasn’t feelin’ this one. This is wack to me. I’m not really disappointed tho ’cause I had low expectations.

How long does it take for you to write reviews? You post them shits fast and they are long and well written.
It really depends what I’m listening to. If I’m listening to a really boring project it can take a few days, but sometimes I get more than one done in a single day. The most I’ve ever done in one day is 3. I usually keep a few backed up just in case.
