This album was released on January 28th this year. This may come as a shock to some of you, but I’m actually super excited for this album. That 3 Way EP that they dropped a while ago was pretty underwhelming, but I’ve really enjoyed every single that I’ve heard from this album so far. Takeoff is my favorite member, but I think Offset has really shown a lot of growth lately. Quavo is of course the most popular member since he’s better at coming up with catchy, melodic hooks. I’m not gonna get my hopes up too high for this project tho. One of my friends at school told me that they dropped all the best songs before the album came out. I really hope he’s wrong. I’ll have to see for myself.

Track 1: Culture Feat. DJ Khaled (Prod. DY & Tre Pounds)

Alright, DJ Khaled yelling in my fuckin’ ear was probably one of the worst ways they could’ve started this shit off. It’s not that big of a deal tho. Just slightly annoying. Takeoff’s on the hook. Yes. This is dope. Ha. Lmao. He says “Culture album coming soon” in the hook. I don’t know why that’s so funny to me. Wow. This beat is really fucking dope. Quavo & Takeoff are kinda going back and forth. I mean, they’re both spitting full verses one after the other. Offset came in at the end for the last verse. This is a dope song. I’d be lying if I said that the melodic moaning in the background throughout the whole song wasn’t slightly irritating, and I’m not crazy about DJ Khaled’s presence here either. I still really fuck with this track tho. It’s dope. 4/5

Track 2: T-Shirt (Prod. Nard & B & XL)

t-shirt

I’ve already heard this song before, and I fucking love it. The beat is dope af. Nard & B put they ASS into this one. The hook from Quavo is unbelievably catchy. I kinda wish Takeoff would’ve switched up his flow. He used the same stuttering flow for the whole first verse. His energetic delivery kept things from getting too boring tho. God, this song is really fucking good. Quavo used the same flow as Takeoff unfortunately. Offset thankfully did something different for the last verse. This song would be a lot better if they got more creative with their flows, but it’s still really fucking good. I have to give this a solid 5. It’s too good. It’s as close as it could possibly be to a 4 without actually being a 4 tho. It’s dope af. 5/5

Track 3: Call Casting (Prod. Buddah Bless)

This is another dope song that I’ve already heard before. The beat kinda reminds me of Zaytoven’s style. It’s dope. The hook from Takeoff is really catchy too. I love the way each MC kinda lets the beat breathe a little bit before their verses actually start. It sounds really cool. Takeoff’s verse was dope. This honestly might be my favorite song on the whole album so far. They all had really dope verses. Quavo’s verse was great. Offset did his thing too. It’s just a really fuckin’ good song. I don’t have any gripes with this track. The hook from Takeoff is REALLY fucking catchy. This is dope af to me. 5/5

Track 4: Bad & Boujee Feat. Lil Uzi Vert (Prod. Metro Boomin’ & G. Koop)

bad-boujee

Lmao. Alright, here we go. This is the big one. This song… is dope. Just dope. That’s right. I know. It hurts me too. I really wish I could call this shit dope af, but there is one specific, terrible, awful, heartbreaking flaw. I’m sure you all know what it is. Lil. Uzi. Fuckboy. Vert. He fucking killed this shit, and not in a good way. Jesus fucking Christ. What the hell were they thinking? Why would you put him on such an amazing song? Well, his verse is right at the end, so I’ll talk about the positive shit first before I really tear him apart. First of all, this beat is fucking incredible. It’s a traditional Trap beat, but it’s got kind of a dark vibe to it. Like, if Earl Sweatshirt became a Trap artist for whatever reason, this is what I think he would rap over. Offset fucking killed that hook too. The hook is legendary already. There’s no way this hook won’t get stuck in your head if you hear this song. If this shit doesn’t get stuck in your head, you don’t have a soul. Lmao. Offset snapped on the first verse too. I love this shit. “Bitch I’m a dawg, ROOF.” This is Trap Music at it’s best. The second verse from Quavo is really fucking good too. “When I’m on stage show me boobies.” That’s one of the best lines I’ve ever heard in my life. Just kidding. I like that line tho. Lol. Jesus fucking Christ. I’m listening to Lil Uzi Vert’s verse now. Why? WHY? Why is he so fucking bad? I really hope he wasn’t trying because this is just pathetic. I could probably tolerate this fucking dogshit ass verse if he wasn’t completely off beat. Why the fuck do people like this guy? I’m sorry. I guess he’s just not for me. He’s so bad tho. Lmao. His voice is so fucking annoying, and his flow is awful. I can’t front tho… He actually sounded kinda good when he said “Boy, you so fake like my collar; you snakin’ / I swear to God that be that Gucci.” I even liked the first line where he just said “YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH / MY BITCH SHE BAD TO THE BONE, AY.” Well, actually I don’t like the line. I mean, I do like the line itself; Uzi just didn’t sound very good when he said it. Takeoff would’ve sounded dope as hell sayin’ that shit, ’cause he would’ve been on the beat properly. That’s another huge problem with this song. Why the motherfuck wasn’t Takeoff here? I swear to God, if there isn’t a remix with Takeoff, that will be the greatest tragedy of the year. There are so many better Trap artists than Lil Uzi Vert that they could’ve gotten for this shit. I can’t wait for the remix. I really fuck with this song. I want to call it “dope af.” I can’t tho. I can’t give a pass to that bullshit ass Uzi verse. It’s dope tho. If Uzi wasn’t here this’d be my favorite song on the album so far. 4/5

Track 5: Get Right Witcha (Prod. Murda Beatz)

OOooooooooh FUCK. Y’all… This beat is dope as motherFUCK. Murda fucking Beatz. Yes. Gotdamn. Lmao. The hook’s not bad. What the fuck… “Goin’ to Thailand with them chinks.” Quavo… No… No, man. No. Why… WHY? What the fuck is wrong with him? Jesus fucking Christ. I don’t believe this shit. God fucking damn it. Why the fuck did he say that? Where the fuck did that come from? That was so random… Nah. I’m not feelin’ the first verse. Even if it didn’t contain a racial slur for no apparent reason, I probably still wouldn’t have liked it that much. His flow is really underwhelming on this track. Offset’s verse was actually really dope. Takeoff’s verse was great too. His flow was nothing special at first, but it got really dope towards the end. Fuck. Hmm… I enjoyed this song. That verse from Quavo was just… I don’t know. It wasn’t bad. Well, I mean, it contained the worst line on the whole album so far, but… I don’t know. I definitely like this song. I guess I’ll just have to use GarageBand to edit out his verse. This is dope to me. Shame tho. Shame on Quavo. 4/5

Track 6: Slippery Feat. Gucci Mane (Prod. Deko & OG Parker)

Okay, this should be good. Oh… Oh shit. This beat. Yes. This beat is dope af. This hook is cool. Quavo’s on the first verse. He just rhymed “3 o’clock” with “4 o’clock, 5 o’clock” & “6 o’clock.” His verse was cool tho. Offset did his thing too. Oh shit. Gucci’s goin’ in now. Yes. Haha. Yeah, he killed it. He has a really different flow from every other MC on this track, so it was nice to get some variation there. Takeoff’s verse was really dope too. I fuck with this song. I wasn’t blown away by Offset & Quavo, but Gucci & Takeoff were really good. This is dope. 4/5

Track 7: Big On Big (Prod. Zaytoven)

I’ve been getting tired of Zaytoven’s beats lately, but this one actually isn’t bad. The hook from Takeoff is pretty funny. I don’t know. It just makes me laugh. It’s stupid. It’s dope tho. His verse at the beginning was good. Quavo’s goin’ in now. He did his thing. This song is so fucking stupid. I don’t know why it’s making me laugh so hard. Offset’s verse was cool too. I like this song, but it’s not super amazing or anything. It’s probably one of my least favorite songs on the whole album. It’s dope tho. 4/5

Track 8: What The Price (Prod. Ricky Racks, Keanu Beats & 808Godz)

what-the-price

This is the final song from this album that I’ve already heard before. It’s really good. Takeoff & Quavo are both singing together on the hook. It’s dope af. Takeoff’s verse was nice. I don’t even mind the electric guitar in the beat. It sounds good. Offset did his thing. Quavo didn’t get a verse. I don’t really have much to say about this track. It’s just really dope. It’s one of the more melodic tracks on the album, and it kinda gets old after the first minute… It’s still a good song tho. I fuck with this one. 4/5

Track 9: Brown Paper Bag (Prod. Zaytoven)

This beat is pretty good. The hook from Offset is dope. He’s also on the first verse. It wasn’t bad. Zaytoven actually did a really good job with this beat. I just wish the percussion was a little more interesting. Quavo did his thing on the second verse. Takeoff definitely had the best verse. Quavo had the weakest verse, but it was still good. This song ends really abruptly. I enjoyed it tho. This is dope. 4/5

Track 10: Deadz Feat. 2 Chainz (Prod. Cardo)

I remember hearing somebody at my school say that they didn’t really like the song with 2 Chainz. They didn’t say why tho. It’s starting now. Hmm… This beat is kinda different… It’s got some really grandiose horns… OOOOOOH FUck. The percussion just came in. Gotdamn. Yeah. This beat is dope af. The hook from Quavo is nothing special. His verse wasn’t bad. 2 Chainz’s verse was cool I guess. I kinda wish it was longer. This hook is actually really underwhelming. Okay, Takeoff killed this shit. His verse was really fuckin’ good. Offset came in right behind him and killed it too. The song just ended. Okay, I kinda see why that guy at my school didn’t like this. I enjoyed it, but it’s got some glaring flaws. First of all, that hook is way too fucking long and uninteresting. It’s just them repeating the same boring line over and over again. The beat was cool, but it almost sounded like it was mixed too high. It kinda sounded like each MC was being drowned out. This is my least favorite song on the album so far, but I still enjoyed it. I… Well… Huh… I don’t know if I’d actually come back to this… It was cool, but it’s just… It’s not that good. I’d probably like it if the hook was better. It’s a decent track. I won’t be listening to this shit again tho. 3/5

Track 11: All Ass (Prod. Purps)

This beat is cool. This hook is alright. This is kinda dumb. This isn’t really my kinda music. This is like strip club music. Haha. It’s cool tho. Quavo’s verse was alright. Yeah… Nah… I’m not really into this song. It’s cool, but nah. I’m not getting anything from this one. I don’t see myself listening to this again, mostly because I don’t see myself ever going to a strip club lol. I don’t think this is bad. I definitely don’t think it’s good tho. None of the verses did anything for me. 3/5

Track 12: Kelly Price Feat. Travis Scott (Prod. Mike Dean & DJ Dahi)

This beat is dope af. I think that’s Quavo on the hook. His style is actually pretty similar to that of Travis Scott. He did his thing on the first verse. This hook is great. This should probably be a single. Travis Scott’s on the second verse. I actually enjoyed it. He sounded good. Takeoff did his thing too. Offset is nowhere to be found. Huh. I actually really fuck with this song. It kinda just sounds like a Travis Scott track, but it’s still really good sonically. The lyrics weren’t that great, but that could be said about a lot of the songs on this album. I really like this track. It’s dope af to me. 5/5

Track 13: Out Yo Way (Prod. Purps)

Alright, last song. Here we go. This beat is dope af. The hook from Quavo is great too. This is kind of a love song. I don’t dislike it tho. Quavo’s verse was nice, and Takeoff’s verse was really dope too. “You go out your way and wasn’t told to, so I made this song just for you.” Awwwwwwww. Lmao. Offset did his thing too. I fuck with this song. The content isn’t super interesting, but it’s dope sonically. Well, I guess that could be said about the whole album itself. Anyway, I fuck with this track. It’s dope. 4/5

Final Thoughts:

This album is great. I kinda get why my friends were disappointed tho. I definitely agree with the sentiment that they dropped all the best songs before the album came out. I guess that’s a good marketing strategy, but it’s just really disappointing for the listeners. The beats were all pretty good for the most part. None of them felt too stale or generic. The hooks were catchy. I think one area where they could all use some work is their flows. They tend to get really repetitive. I think they’ve got a solid formula tho. This might actually be the most positive review I’ve ever written for a Trap album. I love this album. It’s not amazing. It’s not one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I think they did a really good job tho. I’m looking forward to what they do in the future. I might have to check out some of their older projects as well. I fuck with this album. It’s dope.
