This EP was released yesterday (5/18/18). It’s the soundtrack to a show on Netflix called Rapture. I’ve seen the first episode about Logic. It seems pretty cool. If you’re interested in hearing stories about how rappers become successful, the show is for you. That’s how successful I wanna be. I wanna be so big that niggas make documentaries about me. Anyway, the cast of artists is pretty good, so I’m expecting this to be dope. I unfortunately don’t have the production credits for every song, so you’ll have to forgive me for that.

Let Me Work performed by G-Eazy produced by Just Blaze
Gold Digger performed by Dave East featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie produced by G. Koop & Cardiak
Care to Say About It performed by T.I. featuring Rapsody produced by MyGuyMars
NYCHA performed by Dave East featuring Nas produced by Mr. Authentic
Black Power. White Powder. performed by Killer Mike featuring 2 Chainz
State of Emergency performed by Logic featuring 2 Chainz

I’m gonna be honest. I haven’t checked out any of G-Eazy’s work. To me he’s one of those white rappers. You’re probably asking yourself, “What the fuck is he talking about?” I’m talking about people like this…

I went to high school with people like this, and it was a nightmare. I couldn’t believe how white they were when I first started going there. Lmao. Anyway, I was pretty surprised to hear G-Eazy going in over a Just Blaze beat. It was pretty good. I wasn’t feelin’ his verses though. I don’t like his delivery. Something about his voice just gets on my nerves. He’s average as fuck. It’s a decent song I guess. I’m never listening to it ever again though. Dave East’s flow on Gold Digger is much better. The beat’s really dope too. I’ve heard songs from A Boogie here and there, but listening to this EP was the first time I’d actually #focused on a verse from him. I liked his melodic delivery, but that line about boogers in the hook was corny as hell. The song with T.I. & Rapsody was pretty solid. Nothing about it really stands out enough to make it an amazing track, but it’s definitely not bad. I fuck with it. The song with Nas is pretty good too. I liked Dave East’s lowkey delivery. The downtempo production was cool as well. Black Power / White Powder is harder than erections. I love bars about empowering African Americans.

You should’ve seen those dirty crackers’ racist faces

Killer Mike slaughtered that shit. 2 Chainz’s verse was great too. State of Emergency originally appeared on Logic’s Bobby Tarantino 2 mixtape. It’s a pretty good song. The beat is hard, and 2 Chainz killed it. His flow was a little sloppy, but it definitely could’ve been worse. Logic did his thing too. It’s a dope song.

This EP is actually great. It’s not gonna blow your mind, but it’s a pretty good representation of the culture of Hip Hop. It gives you a good taste of the music from the artists featured in the show. It’s honestly a good entry point for people who are trying to get into Hip Hop. It’s dope.

Favorite Song: Black Power. White Powder.
Least Favorite Song: Let Me Work
