This album was released on October 12th this year. It dropped under my favorite record label, Mello Music Group, so I’m expecting this to be really dope. I’ve only ever heard a few songs from Lando Chill, but I’ve liked everything I’ve heard. His first album came out in 2016. I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to check that one out. I heard a few singles from it that were pretty good though. He dropped a couple tracks from this album ahead of its release, but I haven’t listened to them, so I’m going into this project completely blind. I think I’m gonna enjoy it simply due to the fact that he’s signed to Mello Music Group. Every song is produced by The Lasso.
1. Ego Vanish featuring The Lasso
I literally said the words “holy shit” out loud when this song came on. The production is so fucking cool to me. I love how claustrophobic and dark the percussion sounds. The more melodic elements that come in during the middle of the song sound really good. The vocals from The Lasso sound dope too. Lando was rhymin’ his ass off on this track. I think this is a really good opener for the album. This track is dope to me.
2. Clypped featuring MotorKam
The beat on this track is pretty nice. It’s really chill. The first verse from Lando was cool. I think that was MotorKam on the second verse. He killed it honestly. The vocals on the outro are really dope. This song is much funkier than the opening track. It’s something to smoke weed to. I stopped smoking a while ago, but to be honest weed never really affected my enjoyment of music, so I don’t think I’d like this any more than I already do if I was high. I fuck with the song. It’s really dope.
3. Facts
The beat on this song is fucking awesome. The Lasso put his ass in this song. I could see Joey Bada$$ goin’ in on this one. Lando Chill rapped his ass off on this track. The whole song is just one verse. So far it’s the most simplistic song structurally, but I think this might be my favorite track. I love the production and the verse from Lando is really great. It’s a pretty short song. It’s really good though. I fuck with this track. It’s dope.
4. Peso featuring Quelle Chris & Rey
This was the first single from this album. The production on this project is really fantastic so far. The sung hook is really catchy. I can already tell it’s gonna be stuck in my head for a while. The first verse from Lando is dope. Quelle Chris had a really great verse too. There are a lot of references to how you’re at risk of being arrested and brutalized by the police if you have brown skin. Rey had a pretty solid verse. The electronic sounds that come in towards the end of the song are really cool. This is another good song. I fuck with this track. It’s dope.
5. Dah Vapor featuring Swansuit
This beat is pretty chill. Swansuit did a solid job with the hook. The first half of the song is really melodic. I’m gonna be honest; it’s not really that good to me. It’s definitely not bad, but it’s just not really grabbing me in a positive way. I like the way the song kinda switches up and then we got a long rapped verse from Lando at the end. That was definitely the best part of the song. It’s a pretty laidback track. Again, I don’t think this is a bad song. I just don’t see myself coming back to it. It’s decent.
6. Fauna
This track has a pretty bouncy beat. The Lasso is a really talented dude. The production on this album is really dope. The first verse from Lando was great. The hook on this song is fucking awesome. This is definitely my favorite song on the album so far. The vocals on the hook sound really good, and the melody is catchy. The two verses are dope. There’s not a single aspect of this song that I don’t really fuck with. This shit is dope af.
7. Cess
The beat on this track is dope af. I love Lando’s aggressive delivery on this track. This is the shortest song on the album, but it’s definitely a standout track so far. I like the way it’s structured. He’s rapping the whole time. There’s no hook or bridge or anything like that. The Lasso made another phenomenal beat for this track. The production on this album is absolutely stellar so far. This shit is dope af.
8. Koolaide featuring Psychic Twin
The beat on this track is smooth as hell. The vocals on the hook are really awesome. This kinda reminds me of To Pimp a Butterfly sonically. It’s that good. The two verses from Lando are pretty solid. The vocals on the outro from Psychic Twin sound nice. This is another one of the best songs on the album so far. It’s another contender for my favorite track. This shit is dope af.
9. All My Life featuring The Lasso, PSYPIRITUAL & Maya Vera
This track has another really good beat. The first verse from Lando was dope. I’m not sure who’s providing the vocals on this hook, but it sounds really good. I think it’s The Lasso & Maya Vera. Lando did his thing on this track. I think that final verse was from PSYPIRITUAL. It was pretty good. This is a pretty dope track. I’m not blown away by it like I was with the previous three songs, but it’s still an enjoyable track. This is dope to me.
10. Buss It ‘Til It Fit
The beat on this track is fucking awesome. The vocals from Lando on the hook sound really good. There’s just one verse. It’s pretty good. The way the production kinda evolves towards the end of the song is really cool. I don’t really have much to say about this track. I like it a little more than the previous one. He said his favorite Powerpuff Girl was Buttercup. I used to have a crush on Bubbles when I was little. It’s embarrassing because she’s a fucking cartoon character. Anyway, I fuck with this song. It’s dope.
11. Free Pack
This track has a pretty dope beat. I just listened to this whole song. It’s pretty good. There’s not really much to discuss though. The song is really simplistic structurally. It’s just one verse over a good beat. It’s a pretty short track. It’s under three minutes long. I don’t really have anything to say about it. I enjoyed it though. It’s a pretty good song. I fuck with it. It’s dope.
12. From the Hip
I just listened to this whole song. I really like the chill production on this track. The way it switches up for the second verse is really cool. The two verses are pretty solid. The hook is nothing special, but it works. I enjoyed this song. It’s not one of my favorite tracks on the album, but I don’t really have any problems with it. Just like with the previous song, I don’t really have much to say about it. It’s a pretty good song though. I fuck with this track. It’s dope.
13. Love Cold featuring Swansuit
The production on this track is smooth as hell. The vocals from Swansuit on the hook are pretty good. I like Lando’s melodic delivery on the verses. His two verses are really good. The vocals on the bridge sound really good too. This is a really good track sonically. I think it’s a pretty good way to close the album. I have no problems with this track. This shit is dope to me.
