This EP was released on Halloween this year. For those of you who don’t know, Family Bvsiness is a supergroup consisting of Crooked I & Horseshoe G.A.N.G. They’re a group of five brothers who can rap their asses off. I reviewed their debut EP a few weeks ago, which was decent. They’re all really good rappers, but the songs they make are kind of hit or miss. I definitely don’t think this’ll be a bad project, but I’m not really expecting greatness. Who knows though? Maybe this’ll be an improvement over the previous one. I unfortunately don’t have the production credits for this project, so you’ll have to forgive me for that.
1. Fresh Out the Mud
The beat on this track is nothing special. I’m not sure who that is on the first verse. I always get Demetrius & Julius mixed up. The hook isn’t that great. Kenny had a decent verse. Crooked I easily had the best verse. He’s definitely the best rapper in the group. The production’s starting to grow on me. Nothing about this song really stands out that much though. The rapping is slightly above average, but it’s not good enough to make the song itself worth returning to. This isn’t a bad song, but I won’t be listening to it ever again. It’s decent.
2. Sprinkle Blue
The beat on this song is alright. Whoever’s singing the hook on this track actually doesn’t sound that bad. It’s a decent hook. The first two verses were okay. Ehhh… The more I listen to this hook the less I like it. I don’t like the way this song is structured. In my opinion they should do songs without hooks. The third and fourth verses from Dice & Kenny weren’t bad. Like I said, I don’t know who that is singing the hook. I think it’s the same guy who sang the last verse. It was okay I guess. Overall, I feel the same way about this track as I did about the previous one. It’s an okay song, but I don’t wanna hear it again.
3. Addiction
This song easily has the best beat on the entire project so far. Oh God… That hook is atrocious… The singing is tolerable, but the actual melody is terrible. The rapping on this track isn’t bad. It’s not blowing me away though. This is honestly my least favorite track so far. The beat’s great, but that hook really ruined it for me, and the rapping didn’t really impress me either. This shit is mediocre to me. I’m never gonna listen to this shit again.
4. Chop It Up
The beat on this track is actually pretty great, and I even like the sung hook. It’s pretty catchy. Whoever that is on the first verse has a pretty great flow. I don’t really care for the lyrics though. They all have really great flows on this track. I don’t think Crooked I was involved in this song. I didn’t hear him. This is easily the best song though. The production’s great, the hook is pretty solid, and their flows are awesome. I don’t think it’s that great of a song, but I definitely enjoyed it to some extent. This shit is dope to me.
This EP is okay. It’s definitely not as good as their first release, but it’s not complete trash. It’s just not that good. I would’ve preferred if there weren’t any hooks on these songs because most of them were pretty bad. The production was actually pretty solid. I think they rapped pretty well on this project too. I wasn’t really amazed by any of the rapping here, but none of it was bad. I don’t think anyone is really missing out on anything if they choose to skip this project. It’s not a complete waste of time to listen to it though. It’s an okay project. Most people probably won’t be that impressed though because these songs aren’t really that good. This shit is just decent to me.
