EP Review | Big K.R.I.T. – DOUBLE DOWN

This extended play was released on November 30th this year. This is a follow up to the THRICE X EP that he dropped a week earlier. I’m really just expecting to hear more of the same. I don’t think I’m gonna be blown away, but I definitely think I’m gonna like this project a lot.

1. Learned from Texas produced by Tariq Beats & DJ Khalil

The beat on this track is really great. The hook on this song is nothing special, but it works. The first verse was cool. He didn’t really say anything that interesting, but his flow was nice. The same thing can be said about the second verse. This song is pretty much just a celebration of Texas’ culture. I enjoyed the track to some extent, but it’s definitely not one of my favorite Big K.R.I.T. songs. I hope the next track is better. This is pretty dope though. I fuck with it.

2. Pick Yourself Up produced by D’Town the Great & Rico Love

The beat on this track is pretty cool. The hook on this track is nothing special. The first verse is okay. The reference to Independent by Webbie was cool. The second verse wasn’t bad. The way the production kinda evolved during the third verse was nice. Hmm… You know… I really don’t like this song that much. None of the verses are that great, and the more I listen to the hook the less I like it. This isn’t a bad song, but I don’t think I’m ever gonna wanna listen to it again. It’s okay I guess.

This is an okay EP. It’s definitely not a must listen project, but if you’re a fan of Big K.R.I.T. it couldn’t hurt to check it out. I don’t really have much to say about this project. I’m glad these two tracks didn’t make it onto an album because they aren’t that great. This is an acceptable project though. It’s not a very memorable release, but it’s decent.

Favorite song: learned from texas
least favorite song: pick yourself up
