This EP was released on November 30th this year. I’m pretty sure this is the spiritual successor to that Lunch Meat EP he dropped at the beginning of June. I didn’t end up reviewing that project, but it was pretty good. Benny the Butcher easily had the best verse on the whole project. I’m kind of disappointed that he isn’t featured on this one, but I think I’m gonna enjoy this project. The Alchemist is one of the greatest producers of all time, so this should be dope. Obviously every song is produced by The Alchemist.
1. Ray Mysterio performed by Hall N’ Nash
The beat on this track is fucking awesome. It sounds super luxurious. It’s really slow paced. Westside Gunn sounds really good on the first verse. His flow kinda gives me the impression that his verse is freestyled. Conway the Machine definitely had a better performance on this track. Not that Westside Gunn was bad. I just think Conway kinda stole the show. This is a pretty straightforward track. It’s just two verses over a great beat. I’m not blown away by this song, but I think it’s really good. I fuck with this track. It’s dope.
2. Roman Candles performed by Roc Marciano & Black Thought
This should be interesting. As you all know, I’m not really a fan of Roc Marciano. He’s cool on features though, so maybe I’ll enjoy this. It’s starting now… The beat is pretty dope. I don’t like it quite as much as the previous one, but it’s pretty solid. The first verse from Roc was cool. I kinda enjoyed it I guess. I definitely don’t think it was bad. It was slightly above average for me. Black Thought fuckin’ killed this shit though.
The messiah that stretch higher to catch fire
The empire of the motherfuckin’ esquire
His verse was fantastic. Roc Marciano was like the salad leading up to the full meal that is Black Thought. No homo. Lol. Anyway, I don’t like this quite as much as the previous track, but I still think it’s really good. This shit is dope.
3. Mac 10 Wounds performed by Conway the Machine
The beat on this track is really dope, and the first verse from Conway is one of the hardest things I’ve listened to all year.
I got shot in the helmet, and I ain’t feel a thing
Sold crack to my mama and I ain’t feel ashamed
You niggas talkin’ like killers, but won’t kill a thing
Might go to the nigga show just to steal his chain
He killed that shit. The way the beat switches up for the second verse is fucking amazing. That second beat is dope af. I made an O face when it came on. Conway fuckin’ killed that second verse too. Goddamn. This song is fucking awesome. This is better than anything that was on that Lunch Meat EP. This shit is dope af.
4. E. Coli performed by Earl Sweatshirt
One thing I’ve neglected to mention is that all the songs on this project segue into each other really smoothly. Anyway, the beat on this track isn’t as good as the previous one, but it’s still pretty solid. I don’t really have much to say about this track. The verse from Earl is really dope. Honestly, this track is better than anything that actually made it onto Earl’s album, which I’m still super disappointed about. I’m not blown away by this song, but I definitely enjoyed it. It’s dope.
This EP is great. I think it’s a lot better than the Lunch Meat EP. There’s not a single track on this project that I didn’t think was dope. I guess that’s not really that impressive since it’s only four songs. I’m very satisfied with this project though. It’s four really good songs. All the beats are above average, and every verse is dope. I have no problems with this project. I think it’s exceptional.
