Don’t sleep on this new compilation of VEGA.‘s best songs. It was curated by one of the smartest, funniest, and most sexiest individuals in our community. I believe his name is OG NICK MARSH. That’s right. It’s me. I’m writing about something I made and telling you not to sleep on it. I’m not gonna rate this project because it just feels weird to rate something I put together. Like, obviously it would get a high score. It just feels pointless. Anyway, this is a compilation that includes highlights from the first two VEGA Genesis albums, as well as a few loosies. Since I’ve already reviewed VEGA Genesis I, I’m just gonna be highlighting the songs that aren’t from that album. At first I wasn’t sure if it made sense to review this project for a few reasons that are probably semi-obvious. First of all, it’s not a real album. It’s basically a glorified playlist. I also could’ve just reviewed VEGA Genesis II instead of this. However, I decided to review this one because it’s my blog and I can do what the fuck I want. This is something I made that I care about, so I wanna share it here. I also wanna make sure I highlight the loose singles that aren’t on either of the Genesis albums because they’re some of his best songs.
The project begins with a loose single entitled Speeedin’. It’s produced by PHORMANTHA, and the beat is fire. This is definitely one of VEGA.’s most accessible songs in my opinion. It’s very melodic and wavy sounding. It sounds like watching a sunset on a beach. I really love the line in the hook of this song where he says “codeine mixture in my cup.” I like that he calls it a mixture. I might have the lyrics wrong, but that’s what it sounds like he’s saying. The whole hook is fire, but that’s my favorite part. I sing along to this hook every time I hear it these days. It’s catchy as fuck. I think it’s one of the best hooks VEGA. has ever done. His melodic flow sounds absolutely spectacular on the verse. Again, I sing along with it every time I hear it. Especially the part where he’s like, “and my bitch, she real, and my bitch, she bad, my bitch in the field.” That’s fire.
Diamonds all over my choker, I ride with them pokers, I ride with them killers for real Your ho told me that you a joker, lil bitch, I'm a smoker, I'm prolly somewhere in the hills I'm slingin' that yola, the full Motorola, I'm uppin' the quota to almost a mill I been smokin' on doja, my bitch on a poster, she wet as a coaster, I'm in for the kill
I feel like people sleep on VEGA.’s technical skill. If you read that quatrain I just quoted you’ll notice how many internal rhymes there are. His flow is smooth as butter here too. The last thing I wanna highlight about this song is part of the closing line of the verse. “I don’t like runnin’ up racks without my brodies.” I feel that. Anyway, this is definitely one of the best songs VEGA. has ever made. I could say that about any of the songs on this project though. The second track is called FEEL IT, and it’s actually the closing track from VEGA Genesis II. I’m not gonna say what song this track samples, but it should be pretty obvious if you’re into mainstream Hip Hop. I think the way it’s flipped is really cool. I always really liked that instrumental, and I think this song is even better. I feel like the lyricism on this track kinda explain VEGA.’s whole theme.
I'm doin' these drugs to help me heal, but it don't help me heal I don't think there's anyone on Earth that can help me still
So THAT’s why he has absurd lines about mixing percocet, molly, and codeine. That’s why you’d be hard-pressed to find a song of his that doesn’t have at least one line about drugs. It’s because he’s abusing substances to cope with his depression. It’s just a theory. It’s also entirely possible that my brain, which is riddled with mental illnesses, is misleading me into assuming that VEGA. actually has emotions and isn’t just some ho pounding, drug abusing, fast car driving, designer clothes wearing machine. This is definitely the most emotional song he’s ever released though.
Shootin' this shit with no aim and no reason, I'm geekin', I'm beamin', I'm seein' the gods
I just be dreamin', bitch, I don't believe in religion, I think all that shit a façade
I have to point out a lyrical contradiction that made me laugh. He says he doesn’t believe in religion, but then later on in the song he says “I just be prayin’ to God that I’m alright.” Is it possible to not believe in religion and still pray? I guess so. Shit, I’m an atheist and I still pray sometimes. I probably haven’t prayed in a couple years, but it happens sometimes. Anyway, it’s not really a critique of the lyrics necessarily to point that contradiction out. In fact, it genuinely makes me like the song even more because I find it funny. The song is boiling hot fire. Track 3 is called GOIN 2 MARS. As the title kind of indicates, this is another song about getting high as fuck. My favorite part of this song is during the hook when he says “this bitch wanna fuck me on the first night, she tweakin’.” Something about the way he says the word “tweakin’” just sounds odd to me. It’s the way he pronounces it. He says it the way I imagine Eric Cartman would say it. It’s a weird little detail that really stands out to me. Another line I like in this song is “oh, that’s your ho? Well, I took your ho back to the hotel, now she screamin’.” The way he says “I’m finna spark ittt” makes me laugh too for some reason. I’ll admit that this is probably my least favorite song on this compilation, but I still really fuck with it. It’s dope as hell. Track 5 is called FEELIN’ MYSELF, and it’s produced by BenjiCold. I really love the shimmery production here. For some reason it kinda reminds me of Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. The video game, not the movie. My favorite part of this song is the refrain that occurs after the first forty seconds. That shit sounds amazing. I almost wish it occurred more than once in the song. That could’ve been the hook honestly. The actual hook itself is pretty good though. I like the line where he says “I took a oxy then rolled up a spliff.” I also like the one where he says “I’m in her mouth, you in her DM.” Another one of my favorite parts of this song is when he just keeps repeating “feelin’ myself” over and over again for the outro. It just sounds so stupid, but in a good way. I love it. The song’s fire. Track 7 is called LINEYOSH!T, and it’s produced by Sharkboy. This one has really been growing on me even more lately. The colorful, poppy production is really great. I really love the opening couplet too.
My bitch keep gettin' stacks on stacks on stacks, bitch
She got it from me, I took that ho out to Saks Fifth
Rhyming “stacks bitch” with “Saks Fifth” is fire. It’s also the way he says it. It makes me laugh. I love the hook on this track as well. The way he includes a cough right before the final line really elevates things for me. I’m not totally sure what it means to line someone’s shit, but it sounds fire. I also love the way the second verse ends.
I took the brain off the coupe, it's retarded
All I do is boot up like I just restarted
I'm always speedin', I never park it
My lil bitch keep sayin' I'm heartless
I told that bitch roll up so I can spark iiiiiiiiit
On some real superstar shiiiiiiiit
Bitch, we higher than starships
This song is fire. If I heard this shit about 3 years ago I probably would’ve criticized the use of the R word, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me laugh. Is it in poor taste? Probably. I feel like that’s the point though. With all that said, I would understand if someone disliked the song because of that. However, personally I think it would be kinda wack of me to pretend to be super offended because I honestly don’t care that much. Anyway, track 11 is a major highlight entitled ONTHEFLO, which is produced by Devilship. The beat is fire, but it’s really the outrageous lyricism that pushes this shit to the next level for me. If you asked me what my song of the year was today, I would probably say it’s this. That’s obviously subject to change though. Anyway, the lyrics in the hook are crazy.
Money all on the flo', I just told this ho to pull up
She only want me for my dough, but it's okay 'cause I only want her for her throat yuhhhh
This motherfucker just gives no fucks, man. I love it. To admit that you just want a woman for her throat is wild. That’s like Future levels of misogyny. It’s so funny to me. I guess it’s okay because she only wants him for his money. It’s probably a prostitute now that I think about it. I guess that balances things out. Anyway, I really love the lyrics in the verse. The way he harmonizes while singing “I can’t fuck that bitch again ’cause I already boned her” makes me laugh every fucking time I hear it. I also like the line where he says “I’m gettin’ dome in the lobby, woah kemosabe, somebody stop me.” That’s fire. However, the best part of the entire song occurs after a minute and fifteen seconds. At this point, VEGA.’s vocal delivery gets especially energetic, high pitched, and aggressive. I love how he reaches into a higher register here. It really feels like the climax of the song. I think the whole track is dope as fuck. It’s followed by DOPED UP!, which is produced by HeyArnold. The beat is fire. A lot of the beats on this project sound like the kinda instrumentals that artists like Yeat, Lil Uzi Vert & Playboi Carti would perform over, and this one definitely fits into that category. There are a lot of lines peppered throughout this track that stand out to me, such as “I’m gettin’ brain in the wraith” and “fuckin’ this freak lil bitch in the ass.” I feel like now would be a good time to explain the cover art for this compilation. It’s an edited version of this meme…

I feel like VEGA.’s artistic persona has a lot in common with The Weeknd’s character from The Idol. VEGA.’s the type of person to tell a bitch to stretch her tight fucking pussy. That’s the main reason I chose that image as a cover. The other, more obvious reason is that it’s funny. Anyway, I really like the hook on this track—particularly the ad-libs in the background. The way he repeats “doped up” sounds really funny to me. The song is fire. However, the following track, BANKROLL$, is even better. The energetic production from Jets here is absolutely stunning. This might be my favorite beat from VEGA Genesis II. VEGA.’s high pitched, melodic delivery over it sounds amazing too.
Fuck my enemies, fuck my opps, taste like ketamine when we sip shots
I just mixed pineapple Fanta with wok, I just been fuckin' on bitches a lot
I just been playin' with glizzies n' blickies n' beams n' playin' with switches a lot
I'm on a mission, this shit never stop
I think I misquoted some of those lines. I don’t know what wok is. I don’t drink, so a lot of alcohol related bars go over my head. It probably has nothing to do with alcohol. I have no idea. Anyway, one thing I didn’t even notice until writing this review is that there’s not really a hook on this track. The whole thing is pretty much just one verse, but it’s so catchy and sonically diverse that I didn’t even realize how simplistic the structure was until I really thought about it. This is another contender for my favorite song of the year honestly. I think it’s dope as fuck. Track 14 is one of the first VEGA. songs I ever heard. It’s called Psychiic, and it’s boiling hot fuego. The guitar driven instrumental is fantastic, and this song has another one of VEGA.’s best hooks ever. I sing along with it every time I hear it. The verse is fire too.
Bitch, I don't get high, I fly and I swoop Bitch, catch me outside, I'm drivin' a coupe I can't even lie, bitch soured my vibe Out here spinnin' round and round like a loop
This is another one of those songs by VEGA. that I don’t even find humorous at all. I just think it’s a seriously fantastic song. I was blown away the first time I heard it, and I’m still obsessed with it to this day. Track 15 is called Stuupid, and it’s produced by Tyrak. I think this song has another one of the best instrumentals VEGA. has rapped over. I think the opening line on this song is really funny too.
I been fuckin' on thotties and feelin' the love
I love the way the hook transitions into the verse too. It sounds superb.
Everything in here stupid, everything in here new shit
Let you know these thots fall in love, bitches started callin' me Cupid
In the cutlass and I got the windows up, me and shortie coughin' off two spliffs
My body be hatin' me 'cause of the drugs, I been wakin' up and bootin' up
I think I misquoted some of those lines. He definitely didn’t say “cutlass.” I don’t know car terms though. I’m not really into cars at all. I’m not into anything except smoking weed and listening to music. Anyway, I think this song has some of the best rapping on the whole compilation. It’s fire. Track 16 is called FLY AS SH!T, and it’s perhaps the best song from VEGA Genesis II. It was easily my favorite song from the album on my first few listens, but then the other tracks started to grow on me more. I think this is one of the more accessible songs VEGA. has made though. The production from Sharkboy is phenomenal, and VEGA.’s hook here is fire. There are so many fire lines on this track too.
I don't give a fuck if you don't like me, if you don't like me why you in my business?
You know I'm hittin' the blunt 'til it's finished
I fucked yo bitch for the thrill
She know I'm not just anybody, that bitch could play in the field
The way that bitch play with my balls, swear that bitch in the NFL
And you know I got her on call, told that bitch "just be yourself"
No, lil bro, I don't want your BM, no, lil bro, I don't want your DM
No, lil bro, I don't want your ho, your dough, your clothes, no, I don't wanna see 'em
No, lil bro, I don't want your slut, but she's suckin' me up like a fuckin' mosquito
I love it. This is easily one of the best songs VEGA. has ever recorded. I’d say it’s top 5. Maybe top 3. I think it’s incredible. The last track I wanna talk about is the penultimate song, STOP PLAYIN’!, which is produced by PHORMANTHA. The beat here is fantastic, and this song has another one of the best hooks VEGA.’s ever done. The second verse in which he says “she give brain, she give dental” is probably my favorite part of the song. I think this shit is excellent. I love it.
This shit is amazing. It’s most likely gonna end up being my most listened album of 2023 in all honesty. I listen to this shit almost every time I shmoke. VEGA. is one of my favorite artists right now because he’s responsible for my favorite Trap songs ever. One thing that I think I could’ve done better with this album is the sequencing. I didn’t really put any effort into that. As I said before, this is basically a glorified playlist that you can play on shuffle. I just assumed people’s listening experiences would be interrupted by ads anyway, so that’s why I wasn’t worried about whether or not these songs segued into each other nicely. Don’t get me wrong; there definitely are some nice transitions here, such as the one from Feelin’ Myself into ODB! However, for the most part it’s pretty random. If I ever make a sequel to this album, which is pretty likely, I’ll be sure to put more effort into that aspect of the project. Anyway, give this shit a listen and let me know what you think. If you enjoy it as much as I do, I recommend VEGA Genesis 1 & 2, which are both available on all streaming platforms. You be the judge. Is VEGA. as talented as OG NICK MARSH thinks or is he a worthless Yeat clone? Let me know in the comments below.

What do you think?
