I got an email from Bandcamp about this new single from S. Reidy last night. I read the little description on the Bandcamp page, and it referred to the song as “a poem in love, stillness, and acceptance.” I then saw that the song was almost four minutes long, which seemed kinda rare for an S. Reidy single, so I was excited to press play.
This might be my favorite song S. Reidy has ever made. It’s definitely top 5. He’s always been able to blend Hip Hop with a singer-songwriter style really well, and this track is no different. However, I think what makes it stand out more this time is the significantly more polished and detailed production. I’m pretty sure this song is produced by Reidy himself, so that’s cool. Everything about his performance here was incredibly well done. His flow, vocals, and writing are all top notch.
It felt a lot like a lobotomy
Hit a wall and I got caught, and at the worst I lost the God in me
Somehow I made it to the other side
Was broken by the demons that I had inside, thank God I made it out alive
The second verse is probably my favorite part of the song. I love every part of the song though. This is one of my favorite tracks of the year. I even love the cover art. If I had to guess I’d say this is probably from an upcoming project that is yet to be announced, but I really have no idea. It could just be a loose single. Either way, the shit is fire, and I actually think it would work very well as an entry point for new listeners, so be sure to check it out! If you end up liking it, I also suggest his albums An Album, With Songs & SECRET ALBUM.
