This past Wednesday I attended the listening session for Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon’s debut Lex Records release, As of Now. It was held at the Fuzzy Needle record store in my hometown of Durham, and was presented by Super Empty. After they spun the album, there was a live interview conducted by one of my favorite journalists, Dash Lewis.
In the video above, I recount my experience at this event; I talk about my prior history with Jah-Monte and the album itself, different artists I met at the event such as BrassiusMonk & Haziel the Great, as well as my thoughts on the album as a whole. I also get sidetracked talking about Trevor Noah & Arsenio Hall. Anyway, give it a listen and be sure to check out the album if you haven’t yet. ✌🏽
