A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of speaking to Boot Camp Clik affiliated producer Amadeus360 the Beat King. We discussed the release of his latest collaborative album with Devine Carama, Guardians of the Boom Bap 2.

In our conversation, I mentioned that my favorite song was either Masters of the Rap Universe or The Fifth Element. However, nowadays I think my favorite might actually be Watch Me. Something about that beat just feels so hypnotizing. The luxurious piano loop also has an uplifting vibe to it at the same time. I really love this instrumental. One thing I do wish I had asked in the interview is who the person speaking at the end of that song was. Their vocal patterns and pronunciation of certain words made them sound like Open Mike Eagle or Boots Riley. Hard is another major highlight for me as well. That could be highlighted as my favorite depending on my mood. The production is amazing, and Devine’s energy is super aggressive on it. Even just as an instrumental alone, this track could get people moving. It’s amazing. There was one track I wasn’t that into on my first listen of the project, but it grew on me heavily with repeated listens. It took some time for me to warm up to Marauders at Midnight because at first I thought the source material was too familiar, and I guess I found it a bit redundant or just unnecessary. However, if you just put this album on from start to finish it works really well, so that track in particular has grown on me. Overall, I actually do think this is one of the better albums of the year, and I’d say it’s on par with my favorite Ruste Juxx album that was also produced by Amadeus360, James Brown of the Underground. I might actually even prefer this one depending on my mood. This has me excited to see what both of them do next. Who will be the next MC to put out an album that’s fully produced by Amadeus360? What kind of production is Devine Carama gonna be using on his future releases? I’m interested to see what happens.
