I think Busta Rhymes is one of the greatest rappers of all time, and he’ll always be one of my favorites, especially when it comes to the veterans. He’s definitely got some major duds in his catalogue, but even when he was making trash albums I don’t think he ever lost his ability to spit. He makes some questionable choices when it comes to the composition of songs, but when it comes to just pure rapping ability he’s virtually devoid of weaknesses. He honestly has one of the most fun discographies I’ve ever listened to. I mean, yes, shit did get very rough in the 2010s, but he doesn’t have a single project in which there isn’t at least one song that I enjoy, which is saying a lot. He simultaneously has one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard as well as several of my favorite albums ever. I’m a super fan to be honest. I’m glad people are starting to give him more credit because there was a point where I felt like his contributions to Hip Hop were being overlooked. I think it’s probably just because the quality of his records started going downhill, but with this new album the respect has been restored. I’m sure it’ll be a while before we get another project, but I don’t mind waiting as long as he pops up to kill features every now and then. Overall, even though his discography is kinda spotty, I really had a lot of fun listening to it. Definitely check his work out if you haven’t yet. I’m also hoping we get another Leaders of the New School reunion track at some point. That song they did in 2015 was amazing, so I’d love to hear more.
