I said this a couple times in my Life After Death review, but there’s really nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said a thousand times about Biggie. He was a special MC. I don’t think either of his albums are perfect, nor do I think he’s the greatest rapper of all time, but it’s not hard to see why that’s a common opinion. I mean, even though he’s not my favorite rapper, I’d never deny that he’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists of all time. I had some gripes with some of the songs he made, but as a rapper I don’t really think he was missing anything. He was a brilliant writer. Junior M.A.F.I.A. were pretty tight too. I don’t really have any interest in their second album since Biggie was gone at that point, but I’m sure it’s probably decent. Or maybe it isn’t. I don’t know. I was definitely more of a Biggie fan than a Pac fan just because I feel like Biggie was the more proficient MC from a technical standpoint, but they were a good matchup in my opinion. It’s unfortunate how everything ended. I wish we could’ve seen what they would’ve went on to do, but it is what it is.
