This EP came out on March 29th this year. I actually had no idea that this project dropped until a couple days ago. I almost missed it. I guess this is pretty much a sequel to M B I I I, which was their last project. Oh yeah. That should’ve been obvious. It’s MB3.5. I’m not sure what MICHOA means. Maybe it’s an acronym. Anyway, if you read my review of their previous EP, you shouldn’t be surprised that I’m not really expecting to enjoy this that much. I’ve never really enjoyed a full project from Moodie Black. There’s usually at least one track that I like on each project. The main reason I keep giving them a chance is because their music is just way too different and weird for me to not be curious about it. I’m probably not gonna like this EP that much, but I’m almost positive this will be an interesting listening experience. I’m expecting this to be unlike anything else I’ve heard since their previous EP.

1. Blood Clot featuring Oddateee

The first thing I noticed almost as soon as this track started was the reference to one of JPEGMAFIA’s tags. “DAAAMN, MOODIE!” That’s kinda cool. For some reason I got the impression that Moodie Black weren’t really cool with other experimental rap artists. Now that I think about it I can’t really remember why. Anyway, the beat on this track is actually really dope. It’s not as abrasive as a lot of other Moodie Black instrumentals. I mean, compared to most other Hip Hop beats it’s still a little harsh, but it’s dope to me. The first verse from Kdeath was actually pretty dope. Her flow was nice. The hook is cool too. Oddateee’s flow on the second verse seemed slightly shaky to me at first. I enjoyed his verse though. It was actually really good. I love the way Kdeath sounds on the final verse. Honestly, I think this is one of the best Moodie Black songs I’ve ever heard. I really don’t have any gripes with it. This shit is really dope.

2. Dennis Rodman

Damn. This track has another really dope beat. I was a little thrown off at first when Kdeath started rapping. It sounds like she was using a voice synthesizer. She switches to her regular voice after a few bars. That first verse was dope as hell honestly. The hook is pretty dope. I love that audio clip they inserted right before the second verse started. It sounds really cool. I think this beat is slightly more abrasive than the previous one, especially as the song progresses. It works though. It’s not difficult to listen to. I think I like this one even more than the previous track. This is dope.

3. Body

The production on this track is actually kinda melodic. It still sounds distorted though. The distortion is so strong that it’s actually kinda hard to understand the lyrics. With other artists that would probably be an issue for me, but I usually have no idea what the fuck Kdeath is talking about anyway, so it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the song that much. I can make out some of the lyrics too. The first verse was dope. Man… This production is so good. What the fuck… This is definitely the best project I’ve ever heard from Moodie Black. I honestly love this song. I think this is my favorite Moodie Black song. I love the production, and Kdeath sounds really good on the verses. She actually has a really good voice for rapping. The beat on this track is so fucking good. The high pitched synths almost sound like they have a G-Funk influence. I love this song. This shit is dope af.

4. 32

This song probably has the weirdest beat on the whole project. It’s really cool though. Kdeath is using a voice synthesizer again on the first verse. I could’ve done without that to be honest. The verse was cool though. The second verse was cool too, but the way this song ends is uhhh… It’s not uh… It’s… It’s not enjoyable. At all. It’s literally a minute and 50 seconds of two notes repeating over and over again. I’m not sure what the point of that was. This is the only song on the project that I probably won’t be returning to. The outro is definitely my biggest gripe with it. Other than that, the production was dope, and the verses were solid. Overall, it’s just decent to me though. I won’t be listening to it again, but it’s an okay song. Certainly not wack.

This EP is actually pretty damn good. Honestly, this is my favorite Moodie Black project. In the past, it kinda felt like they were making super harsh & abrasive music just to be different and weird. This time around it actually felt like they used that weirdness to their advantage and made genuinely enjoyable songs. I love the production. As always, I was kinda lost with the lyrics. However, Kdeath just sounds really good rapping over these beats. Her voice fits the production really well. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I’m glad I didn’t miss this one. It’s dope.
