Check out this new single from Simon SMTHNG from his upcoming album, HEATDEATH. I don’t know if I’ve ever covered Simon SMTHNG on this blog before now that I think about it. I first discovered him in 2020; I wanna say he produced a song for Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon, but I might be misremembering. Anyway, my favorite Simon SMTHNG song thus far has been An Exploration of the Soul, but he has a lot of projects that I like, such as Obsidian & because we must. This latest track is definitely one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever heard from him though.
Honestly, Simon SMTHNG is one of the artists I check out the most when it comes to instrumental Hip Hop, and it’s because of tracks like this. I love the primary guitar loop, and the percussion that eventually comes in sounds fantastic. This is one of those tracks that is more fun to listen to as an instrumental; I feel like I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I do if there was someone rapping over it. I mean, I don’t know. I’m sure a talented enough rapper could pull off a dope song with this beat. I just feel like it sounds good enough without vocals. Anyway, give this track a listen and let me know what you think. I find it dope as hell personally. The album is called HEATDEATH, and it’s releasing on September 30th this year, so be on the lookout for that.
