Don’t sleep on this relatively new single from Defcee. It’s produced by the legendary Blockhead, and it’s fucking amazing. I was really excited when I saw that this collaboration happened, and it came out exactly as fantastic as I hoped it would.
I don’t know what I’m more impressed by between the production and the actual rapping. I think this is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard from Defcee, which is saying a lot. It’s got one of the best beats I’ve heard from Blockhead in a while too. It kinda reminds me of Hades’ Underworld from Kingdom Hearts II for whatever reason. I love it though. The opening verse is absolute fire. I love the way Defcee was flowing, and the rhymes are on point.
Flicked casings in the crossfire, charred fibers
Melted into the flesh of instrumentals like scar liner
Lost ciphers decoded, motives remain hidden
Brake-clipping, and the stars swirlin' as the Wraith spinnin'
Hittin' eighth in the order, crowd the plate with my aura
Barely safe, middle finger tripped the base at the corner
From the crates I was born to keep tricks up the vinyl sleeve
Seen nothing worded this way like a silent V
His voice sounds amazing over this instrumental. Even the hook on this song is good. The production is really dynamic too. It’s not just one repetitive, boring loop. It sounds really fleshed out and layered. The second verse is just as stunning as the first one, if not more so.
In plain English I measured proof by the wrong angles
Plastic façade torn to smoke like cigar labels
Crossed cables, mixed messages and metaphors
Got everything off of my chest except this xenomorph
Nevermore Park helmet is over my daughter's crown
Goggles got her spotting pits she can crawl around
Still the master of the wince and the scowl
'Til she climbs to the peak of her crib with a smile
There’s really not a single aspect of this song that I don’t like. The production is amazing, and Defcee killed it. This is one of the best songs of the year. Check it out, and let me know what you think.
