FHH Update 6-18-2025

What’s up y’all. It’s been a little over a month since I’ve updated this blog, and things have already been really slow here in general this year because of the health issues I’ve faced. I have been using my time away to focus on my recovery and work out plans for the future in terms of school. I just have to say, I am so ready to be done with college. It was fun at first, but I feel old as fuck compared to all the other students in the classes I’ve been taking, which sucks. Realistically it doesn’t matter that much, but it just makes me feel a bit like a fish out of water. I’ve been in college since 2017 and my health issues have forced me to start over multiple times, so I already know I’ll be in a state of euphoria when I graduate. The biggest issue is me just not really knowing what I want to do for work yet. Anyway, I’m saying all this to say that I’m gonna be focusing more on school than the blog, so things are going to remain slow most likely for the time being. I just really need to stick the landing at school, and then I’ll get back to doing the blog stuff.

Before I end this I just wanna give a few quick thoughts on some stuff that has come out. Well, I really just wanted to take some time to talk about how unbelievably wack Tha Carter VI is. That’s one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard in my life, dog. What the fuck happened, man? I was sitting on my sofa listening to that shit like

I can’t even decide which track sucks the most. There is one song I actually do like on there called Welcome to Tha Carter, but everything else on the album is wack, yo! The first half of the album is horrible, but once it gets to track 10 is when the album goes to complete dogshit. Island Holiday through Maria is one of the most brutal stretches I’ve ever heard on an album. I personally wouldn’t consider myself a Wayne fan though, so maybe members of his fanbase are more pleased with it than I am. I doubt it though.

I also wanna take some time to praise the new billy woods album. It’s dope as hell. It’s a top 6 album in his discography in my opinion. On a good day it might buss into the top 5 though. I went back and relistened to History Will Absolve Me recently. It used to be my favorite woods album, and one of my favorite albums ever. However, I didn’t love it nearly as much when I returned to it recently. It’s still a very great album though, and I’d put it at number 5 in his discography. Anyway, my favorite song on Golliwog is Dislocated, but it would’ve been Maquiladoras had the al.divino feature been scrapped. I don’t think I’ll ever understand the hype behind that guy. With that said, the production is fucking incredible on that song, and woods’ verse is beautiful. The only song I don’t like on the album is the Bruiser Wolf collab, BLK XMAS. Bruiser Wolf is another artist featured on the album of whom I’ve never been a fan and most likely never will be. I just do not like the way he raps at all, and I’m not even interested in trying to get into his music because I know I won’t like it. Anyway, the album is really great overall.

Another great album I’ve been listening to a lot lately is Demon Slayer 2 by Lord OLO & Televangel. I really loved the first entry in the series, and while this one isn’t quite as consistent in my opinion, it does have higher peaks. The song Heat Check is definitely one of my favorite songs of the year. Those drums from Televangel are godly, and OLO’s flow over it sounds excellent. The features were dope too. The only song I don’t really return to on this project is DYKWYLL, and I will admit that the first half of the album is a tier above the second half in terms of quality to me. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the project as a whole. I think it’s great.

The last album I’m gonna be mentioning here today is called Devil’s Alchemy, and it’s by Relix the UnderGod. There’s a lot about this album that stands out in kind of a funny way. First of all, the album cover is pretty uh… Hmmm…

A friend of mine suggested that the cover may have been created by AI. I don’t know what to believe these days in all honesty. All I know is that the cover looks silly as fuck. I feel like I would hate the cover a lot more if the music on the album was wack, but it thankfully isn’t at all. I was caught way off guard as soon as the album started with Stendhal Syndrome (Intro) because it takes audio of Relix’s interview with myself. I didn’t know my voice was gonna be on the album, so it made me laugh when I heard it on here. I think it’s pretty cool. I did notice that he seems to have thrown some autotune onto our voices, which was also pretty funny to me. I think my favorite track on the album is Steamer, but there are a lot of great moments peppered throughout the whole track list. I liked how he included the clip of that senile woman yelling “YOU FUCKIN’ ACCUSER!” on Sinnerz. That’s certainly another one of the best songs on the album. I also love Coming Down, Miracle, Mack, Broken, and Gum (Da Chewin’). Overall, the album is really good. Check it out.

I am planning on taking another extended hiatus from blogging. However, with that said I may be returning with an album review or two sooner than you may think. We’ll see what happens. Anyway, let me know what you think of these albums. Which one is your favorite and what were your favorite tracks? Let me know in the comment section.

Hey man! I’m curious, what is your top 5 for billy woods? DEHH recently ranked his discography. I was surprised at how different each of their top 5s were. His whole catalog in general is pretty daunting, especially now with his latest album, but that one is a legit top 3 for me.

Been following your blog for some years now btw. Always appreciate your opinions and for putting me onto so many dope rappers. Hope you’re well and best of luck finishing up school.

Aw man, thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful comment! To answer your question, my top 5 billy woods albums in order from 1 to 5 is Maps, Aethiopes, Hiding Places, Dour Candy, and History Will Absolve Me. HWAM was my number one favorite for a long time, but I didn’t love it quite as much as I used to when I revisited it recently.
