This is the long awaited third entry in VEGA!‘s Vega Genesis series. It was pretty much my most anticipated album of 2025. It’s kinda surreal having it finally be out. There were times when I thought this day would never come. And now… It’s here!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it’s safe to say at this point that I’m VEGA!’s number one fan. A couple years ago he sent me some unreleased material that I’ve had on repeat ever since, and I was a little surprised that only one of the tracks he sent me actually made it onto this release. I hope the other songs make it onto future projects because they’re fire. Anyway, there’s not a single track on this project that I don’t like, but I’m just gonna be writing about my favorite songs. I’d be here all day if I were writing about all 21 tracks.
The album starts off with a major highlight called NO WAY! This was one of the songs I was sent back in 2023, and it’s been on repeat for the past two years. I’m so glad it’s finally out. It’s one of the funniest songs on this album to me. The hook where he says “I dress my bitch in desiiiiiigner” always brings a smile to my face. I will admit that when I’m listening to this album I start with track 2 just because I’ve heard this one so many times and I’m tryna get to the new shit. I’m really glad it’s here though. I think it works really well as an intro. As soon as the track starts, the instrumental sounds like I’m plunging into the ocean. There’s really only one verse on this track sandwiched between the hook. It’s fire though.
I'm sippin' wock, this ain't water
I thought I told you
She wanna take a flight to Florida
We go wherever you wanna
I been smokin' marijuana
My bitch she call me a stonerrrrrr
I took a flight to Brazil just to bone her
My bitch she call me a lonerrrrrr
Something about VEGA!’s performance on this track just sounds goofy as fuck, but in the best way possible. I love the beat, I love the hook, and I love the verse. The song’s dope as fuck.
Track 2 is called MAJOR LEAGUE. This one’s also insane. The production is fuckin’ bonkers, man. I also find VEGA!’s vocals on the hook to be hilarious for some reason. The line where he says “I been gettin’ too much bread, I fucked up the bakery” is funny to me. I was also happy to hear the return of his “LESSGETITLESSGO” adlib. I don’t know for sure, but I feel like he stopped saying it as much on the last project. Anyways, the part where he says “I ran my money the fuck up, and bitch I might do it twiiiiiiiiice” is another segment that makes me laugh. However, the best part of this song comes around 1 minute and 10 seconds when the beat drops and then there’s like this whistle sound that only plays once during the whole track. When I first heard it, I thought it was gonna become part of the beat, but it only plays one time, and feels more impactful as a result. This is another track that I think is amazing.
It’s followed by FLYEST B!TCH, of which my opinion fluctuated a lot when I was trying to figure out how I felt about the record. On my very first listen, I thought it was amazing and one of the best on the album. Then a few listens later I thought it was dope, but not necessarily a highlight. However, fuck that. This song is phenomenal. It’s gone back to being one of my favorites on the album. I think the sequencing here is really good too. It sounds great coming after MAJOR LEAGUE. Once again, the production is amazing. VEGA! went crazy on this joint too. He sounds so fucking high during these lines…
I took a perc and a xan and I mixed it with X
I took a perc and a xanny just so I don't stress
I took a perc and a bean, know that's when I feel best
I took a perc and a x so I don't stress
I took a perc and a x, bitch I feel blessed
I think I took too much, I can feel it in my chest
I love how VEGA!’s really reaching into the higher register of his voice for this song. This whole album is very high energy, but this one in particular just feels like he snorted three lines and then went straight in the booth. I love it.
Track 4 is called I FEEL IT! This was my favorite song on the album on my first listen, and it lowkey might still be the best. I don’t know. As of Friday, August 8th, I have not finalized my favorite song. The production here from OMGZANOZA is fucking insane though. This beat is so crazy. I love it. The first verse from VEGA! is dope, but the second one is better in my opinion.
Lil bitch pipe down
Take this pipe now
I'm talkin' right now
If you want smoke with lil V then it's on sight now
The hook is very straightforward and kind of simplistic, but it works well. It’s just him repeating “I-I-I FEEL IT.” I find it amusing that VEGA! now has a song called FEEL IT as well as I FEEL IT. I don’t know which one I prefer, but I’m leaning towards this one. It’s amazing.
It’s followed by NOT MY PROBLEM. When I saw the title of this song, all I could think of was that Kill Karl guy from Tik Tok. I guess that isn’t something I needed to mention, but I just wanna take the opportunity to say that Kill Karl has mastered the art of cringe. Anyway, the production here from PAYBACK is boiling hot fire. This song doesn’t really stand out to me for any standout lines or anything like that. This shit just sounds good as fuck. VEGA!’s melodic delivery fits over this electrifying instrumental perfectly. This is another strong contender for the best track on the album. Well, I guess all the songs I’m writing about here are strong contenders. This shit’s fire though. I love it.
I wrote about WE OUTSIDE! a couple months ago when it was released as a single, but I honestly love the song even more now within the context of the album. I’m listening to the song right now as I type this, and I swear I’m hearing sounds in this beat that weren’t there when I originally reviewed it. I don’t know if the album version is upgraded or if I just wasn’t listening closely enough the first time, but this shit is fire. The production has a lot of depth, which I really appreciate. The song’s fire, and was a great choice for a single. Speaking of which, I’m really glad we only got two singles from this project because it would’ve made the whole product feel a bit less impactful if he released more ahead of the album’s release.
The next song I wanna talk about is track 13, which is called SHOW ME SUM LUV. The production from OMGZANOZA & SHAZEUDREAM is excellent, but it’s really the performance from VEGA! that pushes this one to the upper echelon. I really love the hook on this song; particularly the part where he says “Smokin’ out the same pack that I been sellin’, man, I don’t give a FUCK.” However, the best part of the song comes around the 45 second point. VEGA!’s flow here is so dope to me. It might just be my favorite flow on the album.
I said I don't give a fuck a long, long time ago
[?] VEGA! never been up in the honor roll
I been smokin' weed since I brought it up at [?]
I been on a mission ever since I seen a pot of gold
I been on a mission ever since I seen a prada coat
I can't wait one more second, bitch, it's time to go
You can take one more molly, bitch, it's time to roll
He kinda slurs his words a lot here, so it is a little difficult to make out what he’s saying. It’s not completely incomprehensible though. Anyway, the song is dope as fuck to me.
Track 16 is called FOR SCIENCE! and this is definitely one of the funniest songs here. As soon as I saw the title I knew this was gonna be special. This shit is dumb as fuck, man. I mean that in the best way possible though.
Lookin' at all these diamonds make me wanna shine it
It's gettin' a lil cold in here, bitch, I shift the climate
I'm on a lil private plane, bitch, my seat reclinin'
I don't really know for sure, but I think you lyin'
All these drugs that I put in my body, this shit for science
All these bitches that I be fuckin', this shit for science
I be solo when I'm in the whip, I don't even wanna drive it
Lil VEGA! makin' these racks again, I'm finna swim in these Benjamins
The production from ICEBEHUMBLE is really cool too. It reminds me of something that would’ve played in the Cave of Wonders in Kingdom Hearts II. It sounds neon green. VEGA!’s vocals sound excellent over it too. The song’s boiling hot fire.
It’s followed by ADDICTED TO GREEN! This might actually be the best song on the album. The beat here from Exoticdrgs is really great, and VEGA! rocked it better than anyone else could have in my opinion. There’s no artist I would rather hear with this instrumental. The hook is great, but the verse is what really pushes the track to the next level. Not only because of VEGA!’s performance, but also just the way the production evolves. It kinda sounds like an early 2010s throwback to me. I can definitely envision a YMCMB artist over this. Okay, Young Thug would actually sound amazing on this too. I’m manifesting him on the remix. Anyway, I know I didn’t really say much about this track, but just for the record I think it’s incredible. It’s definitely one of the best songs he’s ever made. It’s dope as fuck.
The following track is READ THE ROOM. This is yet another amazing track. The fire don’t stop, mayne. Shit. This might be the best song here. Fuck. I can’t choose just one, man. This shit is so crazy. Setsuna’s beat here is superb, and this track has one of my favorite hooks on the project. I like the line where he’s like “I do not care if the bitch got a boyfriend ’cause I’m tryna fuck on her too.” The verse is great as well; I really love how the bass comes in during this part…
I think I'm finna go roll this blunt
I think I'm finna go pour this cup
I think I'm finna go up and stuck
I just been fillin' my cup, no fucks
I just been rockin' a race with no trucks
I don't like a good bitch, I like sluts
My favorite line is toward the end of the verse though.
I left my bitch for a thottie, I cheated, I did what I did and that shit was OD
The first time I caught that line I laughed pretty hard. The song’s fire. Again, this is another strong contender for the best on the album. It’s probably top 3 for me. At least top 5. The only slight nitpick I have is that the ending feels a bit abrupt.
The penultimate track is called BORN 2 WIN. This song has one of the more uptempo instrumentals on the album courtesy of PAYBACK. This track also has one of the catchiest earworm hooks. There’s a really strong sense of urgency and momentum on this song. I feel like this song would be ideal for listening while going dangerously fast in a vehicle. My favorite line during the verse is “Lil V in the trees, I been schemin’.” That’s so silly to me. I love it. I think this track is sequenced perfectly in the tracklist too. It kinda reminds me of BANKROLL$ a little bit. Something about the driving rhythm just feels similar. It goes back to my comment about the “momentum.” Listening to this just makes me wanna move. It’s dope as fuck.
The closing track is called NEVER STOP, and it works really well as an outro in my opinion. It has a more mellow vibe than most of the other tracks. It kinda reminds me of GOIN 2 MARS. I think this is the better song though. The production from OMGZANOZA & 14SLXVA is great, and VEGA! killed it. I really love the verse on this song too. The flow & rhyme scheme he had going at the end was really nice.
If I could I would give you my heart
I don't know, where the fuck do I start?
Yeah, I just been payin' my rent off by flippin' these bags and creatin' this art
Woke up with a new bitch today… that part
I'm always clutchin' on somethin', bitch, you know I up it if you talkin' smart
I push the button to start
Yeah, I push the button to park
Yeah, I don't want no one seein' me, only go out when it's in the dark
I push the button to fly up to the sky, I'm Tony Stark
Bitch said she wan' go up for a ride, but I think she a narc
The way he inflects his vocals at the end of each line sounds really good and kinda accentuates the rhymes. I love it. The song’s awesome.
I’m not gon’ hold you… I think this album is amazing. There are way too many top tier songs on this project for me to not love it. This is my new favorite VEGA! album, which is saying a lot. The first VEGA GENESIS was my favorite Trap album of all time… UNTIL NOW. I mean, on the right day I might prefer the first one, but I think he’s evolved since then. Gen3 doesn’t have any cool collabs like the Lil Xelly song, but that could be a good thing depending on your perspective. It is kind of impressive that VEGA! was able to carry 21 fully fleshed out songs by himself, and every single one of them is good. There’s not a single track on this project that I don’t like. This album kinda hit me in the same way that Gen2 did in the sense that I liked it on first listen, but it really grew on me as I spent more time with it. This might be my album of the year. It’s tied with the Open Mike Eagle record. They are like polar opposite Hip Hop albums, but I love both. Oh, one thing I do have to mention is that these are easily the best beats he’s ever rapped over. The collaborators such as OMGZANOZA, LEADBLUNTT, PAYBACK, and others all put together some genuinely incredible instrumentals for VEGA! I will admit that the middle section of the album isn’t as amazing as the start and end to me, but I still like those songs. Anyway, I think I’ve glazed enough. You get the picture. If you like artists like Yeat then give this a listen, and let me know what you think in the comments. I think this shit is dope as fuck.
Favorite Song: ADDICTED TO GREEN!
