This mixtape was released on September 17th in 2009. I’ve never heard any songs from this tape, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone talk about it on the internet. I don’t know whether or not I’m gonna like it; I’m just glad that I don’t have to listen to that annoying ass Sick Boi delivery. I can’t see Gambino making anything worse than Sick Boi, so this’ll probably be a lot better. I don’t know… After listening to Sick Boi I really don’t feel like listening to this older shit from Gambino. I’m sure it’s not all as bad as that tape tho. Just like with the previous tape, I couldn’t find any production credits, so I’m just gonna assume that the entire mixtape is self produced. Okay. Here we go…

Track 1: Extraordinary

Okay this beat actually sounds pretty cool so far. Oh… OH NO… OH MY GOD… Are you… ARE YOU FUCKIN’ SHITTIN’ ME RIGHT NOW? HE’S… He’s using the fucking Sick Boi delivery… I can’t believe this shit… I really should’ve started this marathon with I AM JUST A RAPPER lol. Fuck my life. I can’t believe I have to listen to 14 tracks of this bullshit… Man… Should I just skip this mixtape? Would y’all be mad if I skipped it? Fuck, man… Whatever, let’s just get this shit outta the way as quickly as possible. Actually, his delivery isn’t quite as bad as it was on Sick Boi. I mean, he still sounds kinda sick, but he’s pronouncing his Ms and shit now. Huh… Maybe he was only using the Sick Boi delivery for the hook? I don’t know. I don’t really like the way he’s flowing over this loud ass beat. Something about his delivery still sounds off too. I can’t quite put my finger on it. This hook is really wack. The beat sounds like it’s slightly underproduced. Okay the song just ended. He thankfully didn’t have the Sick Boi delivery like I originally thought, but this was still a pretty bad song to be honest. I mean, he had some cool punchlines in there, but the beat and his flow were super underwhelming, and the hook was pretty terrible. I’m not feelin’ this. This is wack to me. 2/5

Track 2: So Much Better

What the FUCK? He’s using the Sick Boi delivery again? WHY? Why the fuck would you do this? Fuck everything. I CANNOT wait to get to the next mixtape… The Sick Boi delivery was such an obvious flaw; I was 99% sure that he wasn’t gonna repeat that mistake for this mixtape. I was wrong. He really sounds like he’s doing a Lil Wayne impression. Good God… I can’t even focus on the lyrics because of his delivery. The punchlines aren’t even that bad. I just can’t get behind this shit tho… What the fuck… The beat just kinda switched up. This is REALLY bad… Jesus Christ. I’m glad this was just the beginning of his career and the music he makes now is dope. This is probably the worst Childish Gambino song I’ve ever heard. It’s wack af. 1/5

Track 3: Phat People Feat. Billy Scafuri

Oh God… This is so cringe… I mean, the beat is dope af, but aside from that this is some of the corniest shit I’ve ever heard. I don’t think Gambino was taking Hip Hop seriously back when he made this shit. This Billy Scafuri guy… I don’t even know how to describe how I feel right now. All I can say is that this is some of the most cringe worthy shit I’ve heard in a long time… I’m NOT feelin’ this first verse from Billy Scafuri. This is seriously some of the lamest shit I’ve ever heard. I feel like I’m listening to a fuckin’ Lonely Island song right now. It’s obviously not meant to be taken seriously, but it’s not like it’s funny at all. The only reason I’m not giving this a 1 is because the beat is dope. 2/5

Track 4: The Awesome Feat. MC Chris

Oh God, no… Not MC Chris… Fuck. Alright, let’s do this. It’s starting now. Oh. My. Fucking. God… This… WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT? ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME, DONALD? FUCK. FUUUCK. FUCK MY LIFE. WHY AM I DOING THIS? This… I don’t even know what the fuck to say… This is… I… I’m literally speechless. Fuck. I know I’ve been saying this a lot, but for the love of God… This song is cringe in it’s purest form. I’ve only heard the first 15 seconds too. I had to pause it… First of all, let’s start with the production… This motherfucker sampled Kemkraft 4000 by Zombie Nation. What? You don’t know that song? Click this link. I’m positive you’ve heard this shit before and you just don’t know it, but then again I was positive that Donald wouldn’t use the Sick Boi delivery again, so what the fuck do I know? That would’ve been bad enough, but MC Chris is SINGING about how he’s “so awesome” with AUTOTUNE. Am I being trolled right now? This sounds like that fucking trash ass Andy Milonakis & Lil Yachty song. There’s absolutely no way in hell Gambino thought this was a good song. He really must’ve been trying to be a joke rapper. There’s nothing funny about any of these songs tho. They’re just terrible. This first verse isn’t good. What the fuck… “Boy, I am the awesome / Call me Elroy, or Mr. / ‘Hey, how much it cost him” That’s the third time Gambino’s told me to call him Elroy on this mixtape. This is… This is Childish Gambino? I can’t believe he made this trash… This is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard in my life. MC Chris had a verse at the end. It wasn’t good. This song is fucking dogshit. 0/5

Track 5: Yes

No. This is just so… I don’t even know… It’s like… This is what would happen if the nerdiest kid at a private school had a huge ego and decided that he wanted to be a rapper. Gambino’s always been a dork, but it’s just so over the top here… I just can’t take this. His delivery is so unbelievably corny. This is unbearable. Well… Lemme slow down. This is easily the most tolerable song on the tape so far. It’s still not good, but I don’t really think it’s terrible. I’d never wanna listen to this again, but it’s WAAAY better than the other songs. I still think it’s below average tho. The beat is nothing special. The bars are decent. There were a lot of corny lines. My biggest gripe is his delivery tho. 2/5

Track 6: Hawk Jones Feat. Dree Dei

This beat is decent… The first verse from Gambino was fine I guess. His delivery is still pissing me the motherfuck off, but it’s not terrible. This is easily the most tolerable song so far. This Dree Dei chick’s verse was nothing but cringe. Her delivery was so bad, and the shit she was saying was just so… I don’t know… It’s like… It’s just so fucking lame. Like, this is what I think my sister would write if she was trying to make a song. That’s not a good thing… I hope she doesn’t read this… The final verse from Gambino… Fuck, man. This is another wack song. I thought this was gonna be an okay track at first, but it just gets worse and worse… The beat’s fine, but the hook is awful, and Dree Dei’s verse was terrible. I can’t fuck with this one. This is wack to me. 2/5

Track 7: Almost There

Oh God… This is a love song. Of course the female love interest is white. You guys know that I hate love songs, but this is actually the most tolerable song on the whole project so far. The beat’s dope. This is some of the softest shit I’ve heard since Views. There’s no hook. Thank God. Gambino seriously sounds like he’s crying as he’s rapping this shit. Jesus fuck… I thought this was gonna be a decent track, but this shit is fucking awful. I mean I still like the production, but this is so unbearably sappy and soft. This is just embarrassing… Well, maybe “love song” was a poor choice of words… This is like when a guy gets dumped and then he cries about it for weeks. That’s what this song is. “Baby girl we need to make up / And when I dream of you I don’t want to wake up / And when I don’t dream, I don’t want to wake up / I’d rather die now than not have your touch / ‘Cause I miss you so much.” I’m sorry, but I can’t fucking stand this shit. The only reason this isn’t getting a 1 is because the beat was decent. 2/5

Track 8: Hollerin’ Feat. Dean

This beat is wack. Woah… Holy fuck… This hook is amazing… I’m deadass serious… I was trippin’ when I called this beat wack too. I mean, the beat IS wack, but the way it switches up for the hook is great. Wow. Lmao… I was not expecting that. The first verse was still not good to me, but this hook is really good. Hmm… The song just ended… Where was Dean? Maybe that was him on the hook. It sounded like they were both singing on the hook. To be honest Dean sounded pretty bad on the hook, but Donald sounded great on it. This still isn’t good enough for me to want to listen to it again, but it’s easily the best song on the mixtape so far. 3/5

Track 9: My Name Bam-B Feat. G.E.T.H.

If you’re confused by the title, Gambino’s been calling himself “Bambino” on this mixtape and on Sick Boi. I guess that was an old nickname that he had or something. I’m not sure what the fuck G.E.T.H. is. This beat is actually kinda dope. WTF… He just did Chance The Rapper’s ad-lib on the hook. I know they’re good friends. I wonder if Chance got that from this song. It’s probably just a coincidence. The first verse was decent at best. I’m not really feelin’ this hook. Oh, apparently G.E.T.H. is a comedian named Chris Gethard. I guess the only features Gambino could get were his comedy buddies. Bad idea. He should’ve just done the whole thing by himself. I think Donald MIGHT have been TRYING to take this shit seriously, but his friends clearly weren’t. G.E.T.H.’s verse was wack. The song just ended. Nah. This is wack to me. It MAY have been decent if it weren’t for that hook and the feature. 2/5

Track 10: Grind

Alright, here we go. Only 5 more songs. Let’s get this shit over with. This beat is cool I guess. This just sounds super Pop-ish. The hook isn’t bad. It sounds like his verse is autotuned. Why do rappers always do that? Shit is annoying as fuck… “Take me to a hospital, call me Ebola.” That’s like the 7th ebola punchline I’ve heard from Gambino since I started this marathon. The song just ended. Nah. This’d probably be a tolerable song if he wasn’t using autotune on the verses. This is wack to me. 2/5

Track 11: The Rocker

This beat is alright I guess. The way he looped a pitch shifted version of himself saying “Mr. Gambino” was pretty corny, but everything else about this beat is dope. “Niggas say I sound like Weezy and shit / Well he the best in the game so what’s wrong with that?” This line pissed me the fuck off way more than it should have to be honest. Donald. I… I don’t even know what the fuck to say. First of all, Lil Wayne is not the best in the game. He was NEVER “the best in the game.” There was a point where he was making really good music, but he was never the best in the game. I shouldn’t even have to explain what’s wrong with Gambino sounding exactly like Wayne. Actually, now that I think of it, this beat is pretty much a carbon copy of the A Milli beat. The song just ended. You know what? That line that I quoted pissed me the fuck off, but as a whole this is one of the better songs on the tape. There’s no wack hook. Gambino’s delivery isn’t too over the top. The beat’s decent. I’m not really mad at this track. I definitely wouldn’t ever wanna listen to it again tho. It’s okay. 3/5

Track 12: I’m So Focused Feat. Truff Syrum

Wow… This beat is actually REALLY fucking dope. It sounds like something Kanye would’ve produced early on in his career. Holy shit… I’m actually enjoying this song… I don’t believe it… The first verse was dope. I guess Gambino just sounds better over this type of production. The hook is decent. Oh NOOOOOOOO. Woooow. I don’t fuckin’ believe it. Hahaha. Wow. Truff Syrum’s verse is fucking terrible. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking when I thought I found a good song on this tape. I should’ve known that it would’ve been ruined by yet another terrible feature. Well, this is still the best song on the tape. I just wouldn’t ever listen to it again personally. 3/5

Track 13: Starlight Feat. DC Pierson & Amber Petty

This beat is cool. It’s really Pop-ish. Amber Petty sounds kinda good over it. DC Pierson is easily the best feature on this tape. I still wasn’t really feelin’ his verse. He sounds amateurish. He’s definitely got some level of talent tho. I wouldn’t mind checking out an EP from him if he stepped his delivery up. Gambino’s verse was pretty dope. No seriously it was dope. I still wouldn’t ever wanna listen to this song again, but THIS is definitely the best song so far. This tape has been improving a lot; hopefully the next song is even better. 3/5

Track 14: Sunshine Feat. Dean

Alright, finally; last song. Here we go. I’m not really feelin’ this beat. I like the fast pace tho. The hook is fine I guess. If you’re into those pop-ish, sappy love songs from Gambino like 3005, you’ll probably like this. It’s not my cup of tea tho. I’m not feelin’ the second verse. The song just ended. Yeah… Nah… I wasn’t feelin’ this one. It was decent tho. If you’re into Pop Rap you should give this song a shot. It’s just not really for me. 3/5

Final Thoughts:

Oh, thank god… It’s finally over… This shit is wack. I shouldn’t even have to be saying this, but… WHY THE FUCK IS THIS MOTHERFUCKER STILL USING THE SICK BOI DELIVERY?? I just do not understand. He sounds fucking atrocious on this shit. His delivery is absolutely terrible. That’s my main problem with this mixtape. I feel like everything I said about Sick Boi applies to this tape, but it’s even worse. I mean, his nose sounds slightly less stuffy, but his delivery is twice as goofy and annoying as it was on that project. Another huge problem I had with this tape was the features. Why are these features even here? Seriously, they were literally ALL bad. I mean, some of them were decent, but none of them were really good. What the fuck made him think it was okay to get a bunch of random ass comedians to rap on this shit? Why did they even agree to do this? Was Childish Gambino trying to be a joke rapper or not? A lot of the songs felt serious, but the others felt almost as if they were intentionally bad. This just isn’t a good mixtape. I don’t even know if Gambino’s stans would like this. So yeah. I REALLY wasn’t feelin’ this tape. I didn’t think Gambino would make something worse than Sick Boi, but I was sadly mistaken. Hopefully this is the worst project he ever released. It’s fucking awful.
