Since a lot of the rap is from the late 90’s and early 2000’s you should review some DMX albums. My favorite from him would be his debut It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot.
GREATEST IDEA EVER:
Do a BONES marathon. Maybe not his entire discog, but at least try it, starting with SCUMBAG. You might want to skip a few, though. DISGRACE, Teenwitch, and especially Frayed are fucking dogshit. Rotten is pretty bad aside from HDMI, which is an essential track. My favorites out of his discog are CRACKER, Skinny, HermitOfEastGrandRiver, USELESS, PaidProgramming2, and NoRedeemingQualities.

I think you might enjoy some of his more hard-hitting tracks.
